VAR

The officials on the pitch didn't appear to give a free against Branthwaithe in the first half yesterday but seemed like var checked the challenge and was given as a free and maybe a yellow aswel. Thought they weren't supposed to interfere unless it's a red card. Similar happened last time out aswel against Arsenal I think it was. Branthwaithe or OBrien had a bit of argue bargie with a player off the ball. Ref played on and when it went out for a throw he gave a yellow to the player. Again seemingly after var checked the challenge
They didn't intervene. Free kick was already given. Checked for serious foul play most likely but can't suggest yellow, which incidentally he didn't get for that challenge. It was the one after.

I was of the belief the ref let play continue and that the only reason he stopped playing was for the head injury protocols when the forest player kept rolling around holding his head. We had the ball playing it across the back for a good few seconds before he stopped play. Then gave the free after. Moyes looked mystified over the decision aswel

Just my interpretation of it. If VAR gave it then they shouldn't have

The free kick wasnt given at all. There was no advantage to them cause we had the ball, so why take so long to blow the whistle? It seemed like forever, id reckon at least 5-7 seconds after contact was made that the whistle was blown

Regardless of who didn't or did do what... We won, we also didn't fluke it. We outplayed the third in the league for 70 mins (not conclusively) but we looked the better team for most of it. AWAY!! Cheers Dave, another saved weekend.... I do not mind this 👍👍

Wasn't it ? Pretty sure it was a free kick. Anyway, I don't really care that much.

There has been no word in the press, motd or anywhere really of what it looked to me a clear penalty on alcaraz which is surprising. Looked to me a stonewall penalty. Not sure it was even checked by var. He is taking out by the defender who misses the ball completely. I know the one on beto you could argue starts outside the box really.
Indeed. I'm amazed that wasn't a penalty. In a world where the Polish goalkeeper, falling backwards to reach a high ball, brushed Lionel Mess's head with his fingers and was penalised for a spot kick at the World Cup, how on earth was that not a penalty yesterday?

So according to hacket, former referee, there wasn't enough contact from Yates to alcaraz...it was alcaraz momentum that went against yates. Pure and simple incompetence...Yates went for the ball, which he missed whereas alcaraz made contact with the ball...penalty for me all day long

when is a follow through not a (dangerous) follow through..?

A follow through is against Everton, and a dangerous follow through is call a Tarkowski.
