I've found my weekly intake of meat has reduced as my kids are fussy about eating meat on the bone or roasts like Chicken/Pork/Beef.

I've found my veg intake going up as a result.

Wouldn't get me into Quorn or Tofu yet and don't start me on all these vegan substitutes. If you don't want to eat meat, don't make a product that looks like it and is called nearly the same thing.

This is how I started. Especially chicken, mass produced mutant chicken breasts that are full of white lines and sometimes tough. Was going through periods where I would get 1 meal out of a pack of 3/4 chicken breasts. So I just gave it up.

Never been a fan of pork anyway and beef was always hit and miss as I cant stomach the look of the marbling in it.

Now I dont miss it really. Struggle with tofu and substitute chicken breast, quorn mince etc as not a fan of the texture but quorn crispy nuggets are brilliant, even family eat them now.

Not long after pasta with sauce and richmond meat free meatballs.

For the record I'm not a veggie. The wife is so sometimes it's convenient to eat the same thing.

Agree it easier, especially if there is minimal difference to the meals. Some things the family wont entertain and some they are fine with. Not tried the meatballs but their sausages are really good - as long as they dont get dry during cooking.

I use green lentils to make shepards pie, chilli etc instead of quorn and of course its not the same texture as mince but is just as nice in flavour. Im still waiting for a very good chicken breast substitute though as havent found one yet.

The likes of stir frys and pastas can just be meat free or a few veggies thrown in.

They are nice mate, i do like the Richmond sausages too. They obviously don't stack up to real meat but as an alternative they are pretty good.

I would have never touched veggie/vegan alternatives until i met the wife. Now I'm much more open to trying alternatives and am going to move to eating more plant based foods just for ease of cooking for the family.

Saying that i did have big juicy burger for lunch.
