TBH Victors performance was exactly like the young Joe Royle gave week in week out when he played the lone striker role but with the holy trinity & two wingers supplying the bullets for goals , but his chasing down on the City back three pushed them so far back they could not get going - his best workmanlike performance ever & he stayed right down the centre & chased out wide with Jelly as a partner who knows how many goals those two could get from now on in?

His full name is ace, sounds like he could be a competitor in Blood Sport.

Hmmmmm, a blood sport formation could be on the cards next time. Get in, love that movie and it's shocking mistake of Keown getting his leg snapped and in a later scene standing and chanting, in the crowd.

thing is mate if we bought say Negredo and played our normal 4-5-1 then would Jelavic/Big Vic be happy with not playing hardly any football? as negredo would start with say Jela of the bench meaning no football for Vic. Thats the problem with a 4-5-1 you cant really keep more than 2 forwards happy compared to playing two up top where atleast the 3rd choice striker will still get time of the bench.

The main problem is too many people get caught up in the numbers when talking about formations.

How many times did we see Fellaini right up there with Anichebe on Saturday, enough to say it was more like 4-4-2 with Fellaini dropping deep to collect the ball. It was the same when we had the Cahill/Yak partnership, Yak would drift out wide with Cahill pushing up and vice versa.

I can see Jelavic playing the Fellaini/Cahill role in a decent way with Vic pushing up and maybe even switching it around. You can even play a 3 up top with Mirallas and Anichebe playing inside forwards (or false wingers as a certain David Brent likes to call them) with Jelavic as the main focal point (again Anichebe and Jelavic could swap). A bit like Chelsea played with Drogba, Malouda & Cole under Mourinho.

In conclusion we can easily bring in a 3rd main striker and keep them all happy as there isn't just a 1 up top that we play.

Gone from being one of our laziest players to one of the most hard working.

If he could finish he'd be unbelievable. Shame he didn't win it for us today but I think he had a great game.
