Where'd you think Vic would be now if he was released 6 years ago after a handful of occasional appearances ending up at a league 1 side?

Not applicable.
Moyes would not have let him go.He knew (knows) Vic has what it takes and i think he is still a work in progress.
He's still young for a no.9 and will be very difficult to defend against in 2 or 3 more years.

If Victor can continue to improve, lets say the same amount next season as this, then we will have one hell uv a player leading the line for us. Furthermore there might be a few in the England setup that might be scratching their heads about letting him get away for Nigeria. Because I dont see many English players that bring what he does to the forward line. Pace and tikitaka feet are abundant, but an old fashioned big strong beast that is plenty mobile are not as common as they were.

Of course its applicable. If Vic was released 6 years ago and picked up by a league 1 side do you think he'd be the same player he is now?

I don't think he would, its credit to the coaching staff here he's finally starting to look like a good player. Yet if he had been released then i'd say its 90% certain he'd still be hanging around the lower leagues because while he had the talent in him their coaches/players/set up weren't good enough to develop him.

Young players with potential are way way more likely to develop into good players here than they are at a League 1 side. So it doesn't mean all those released in the lower leagues just aren't good enough, but that they just weren't given the time and chances that someone like Anichebe was. Some are just crap, but not all, theres more to it.

But you know hes not mate.

Naismith doesnt play much anymore anyway, think his eyes have been opened with regard that.

I know he's not. And Naismith still plays so thats still too much.

But yeah, same as always its just my opinion that young players with potential need to be actually given a chance to develop that potential (ala Anichebe and Coleman for instance) and just because they get let go before getting that chance doesn't mean that they're crap and couldn't of been turned into useful squad members here.

A player is far far far more likely to develop into that at Everton than they are at some lower league club. I know we can't do that for every young player but we could do it for more than we do.

Both Coleman and Anichebe would still be playing lower league football if they were let go early in their Everton careers in my view, they're good examples of potential being realised through actually game time.

I just think your letting your hatred of Moyes blind you from the fact that he can actually spot a player or at the very least potential in a player.

He saw it in Rooney, Victor, Vaughan and Rodwell, he didnt in Baxter, Wallace, Kissock.

Totally agree mate.
Everton work well with kids.

Don't really get your argument with me,i support Everton,Moyes and Vic.Just stated that what would of happened to Vic had he left is all hypothetical cos he hasn't left and is therefore not applicable.
Think he would make it like cos he wouldn't lose his attributes and would have bossed defenders in the championship a lot sooner.

I disagree.

For me and ive said it a few times over the years, but for me Victor has the lot to succeed, he has pace, he has a frame and he can actually play football, the reason he hasnt really shown it has been that massive chip on his shoulder, the sulking, the pouting, the general lack of effort, this Season its like a switch has turned on his head and hes starting to look like a player.

I doubt the switch would have been turned on if he moved down the Leagues.

I think a lot of it is about him "showing those fans who doubted him", his non goal celebrations help me reach that conclusion.

But regardless, I doubt hes gonna score loads of goals, but time will tell.
