I don't know if it was picked up on the cameras but in the second half last night he went down after a challeneg and it seemed like he stayed down for 30 seconds, then got up and held his knees in a statue position for another 30 seconds while the game was going on in front of him.

Was really weird cause he then just started running normally straight after, guess he must of took a knock on the kneecap or something.

Was unlucky last night, stood little chance of doing anything good with those long balls when on his own marked by Mertesacker.

Yeah it has to be said the service he got last night was terrible.

He defo needed Felli up there with him.

I would have dropped Barkley into midfield and played the big man up top alongside Victor.

Jelavic did fck all when he came on, hes turned into a terrible footballer.

Felt sorry for him last night. Thankless task trying to control a speculative long ball played at head height, with none of your team mates around you and a Giant German all over you.

Arsenal were very quick in transition and as such Everton weren't really able to commit forward at times and Anichebe was isolated quite a bit.

I think perhaps he could have closed down a little quicker but it's a thankless task that role especially in that game. His head maybe goes down a little too easy at times, but he's improving all the time and hopefully that learning curve continues.

If we're gonna play long balls like that then yeah we need Fellaini, or certainly someone else up there for support. If we're gonna play it on the floor we don't need fellaini but need a more creative player ala Osman/Barkley.

About 2 mins after coming on Jelavic had the ball and attempted a 3 yard pass to a teammate but fluffed it, looked like he'd never kicked a ball before.

If we're not gonna leave him in the box getting on the end of crosses he's pretty much useless other than when he runs around a lot.

I think the problem was, when Jela came on, Victor was pretty spent, thus meaning Jela had to do the "running", it was a bad sub IMO, it was an attacking sub, but I personally think at that point Victors game was run.

Just looked to me that Jelavic went up front but drifted straight off to the left wing where i don't remember seeing Victor at all all game, and Vic dropped deeper but was inneffective so it allowed them to get more control of the midfield.

Makes me wonder if Jelavic is told to do that or just naturally does it himself.

Isolated all night with the long ball tactic moyes needs to teach the defenders and Howard to start playing it on the floor we hoof it too much especially if felli is to be played at CM

Jelavic does seem to drift out to the wing's a lot, I think it was mentioned in the match commentary and on the match thread he seems to be taking that extra touch now rather than the first touch stuff of last season, often slowing the play down or just giving the ball away. frustrating to watch after the exciting start he had

He was poor last night, he should've come off when Jelavic came on. It was like we were playing with 10 men.
I agree with you both but if they'd done a straight swap and then brought on a "defensive" sub for Barkley (who I did think needed to come off too) you know there would be people moaning about Moyes being negative. This was a good example of how a "positive" sub wasn't all that positive. That said our options from the bench are pretty thin so I don't think he had many other reasonable options (without the benefit of hindsight). I doubt a Naismith/Jela frontline would have been greeted super warmly although I wouldn't mind seeing Naismith in the hole just to find out if he's really better there.

I know nobody is keen on him (neither am I) but maybe Naismith in the hole, push Felli deep and leave Mirallas in midfield would be worth a shot.

Only thing i'd like to have seen last night that might have been a bit better was Mirallas up front to use his pace and skill against Mertesacker, especially once we took Barkley off and dropped a bit deeper.

always been a big fan of victor seen potential there when others didnt and will admit he hadnt a great game last night but still ran his legs off but looked very tired so saturday would you start vic again or use a fresh jela?

That's what I would've done when Barkley was subbed. It wouldn't be a negative substitution and I think Naismith can be a decent little player for us if played there. Not great but the sort that pops up with a fair amount of goals a season.
