You know last year and through this, I was a firm believer this kid was just a rag and was taking minutes from other good prospects. (ie: Velios)

Missed the mark on it, really. Anichebe has earned his place and has played well. You can see the improvement throughout this season and any praise he gets now has been deserved. Well done.

"more or less as good as each other" but we can only keep one on. Who'll become the better player, the one who develops at everton or the one who develops at a league one side?
Keep in mind one gets to work with Moyes and one doesn't.

Why can we only keep 1?

Surely Moyes keeps the 1s that he thinks has what it takes.

You act like he gets rid of quality players all the time, his record is almost flawless.

To be honest mate thats completly the opposite of what i've been saying :
i'm not saying we're letting go players the caliber of Rooney all the time.

See.

I reckon you knew that anyway though.

Yes mate, I know what your saying and I admit im being over arsey.

I just feel that players have a certain skill level and no amount of top class coaching will take them past that skill level or they have the required skill, but they dont really have the attitude.

Victor is a strange case, hes had the "skills", for years hes had what it takes, but he lacked something, confidence, mostly.

But Moyes stuck with him, he worked him in training, hell im sure he even gave him the arm around the shoulder at times and hes reaping the rewards. And it would appear hes gonna turn into a very good premiership footballer.

Contrast that with somebody such as Baxter, who it could be said has the skills? Im not so sure, but lets say for arguements sake he does, IMO he had a crappy attitude, but instead of "working" on that, Moyes let him leave, I know that technically he left us, but a little bit more money, some first team promises and he would have stayed, but as I said, Moyes was happy for him to leave.

You have to ask why? Now forgive me for 2nd guessing you, but you seem to think we should have used Baxter more, played him more and he would be a better player? I say thats not the case, I say Baxter is sub standard and will never become a premiership player, not even a sub standard one. And Moyes knows this, cos he can spot talent, he works with these players everyday, he gets "inside their heads" and he can see if they have what it takes.

Ive used Baxter as an example, but the same could be said for other players over the Years.

Thats my take on it anyway.

Can't believe this thread had not already been bumped.

As much as all his recent promise has been great and good to see, last night was infuriating and looked back to the Anichebe of previous to me.

Had to agree with Ian Wright, he should have offered a lot more. Was not even looking like he was trying to do his job at times and looked lazy and lethargic. At one point I was swearing loudly at the telly and got a prompt telling off from the breadknife.

Hope it's just a bad day at the office, we need the whole side functioning if we are going to get a European place.

Anichebe had no support last night and was being marked by 2 players, he did a job defensively though and was running around a lot more than Jelavic did when he came on. He was absolutely shattered towards the end which shows he put a shift in.

Didn't play that well but was decent, probably 6/10 performance.

To many high balls to his head last night - not to his feet & they put 2 players on him to stop him linking up the midfield, put a shift in though, Arsenal never took the game to us till the 70th minute when whinger made his subs - we also had a poor ref who listened to most of their moans & flash needless yellow cards & gave them most free kicks, but a 0-0 draw was ok

had two players marking him all the time and all the long balls to him were **** minus one or two. He was chasing every ball up that end of the pitch regardless of the pressure and he got backed and helped a lot especially for Corners, did everything he could with the lack of supply

Maybe it was tiredness, but there were a couple of balls played up to him near the end and he did not even move to get the ball.

I hope it was a one off, back to his best for the sunderland game please Vic.

He didn't move much last night but I guess he was told not to. Which is good since Moyes over works our strikers but I just wish he hadn't done that with Jela. I hope the two will be beasts come next season. Vic needs to work on his distribution when playing back against the goal but I think that'll come with game time.

Vic was pretty poor last night but I did think he did put in a shift. Just didn't get any change out of their centre half (mertesacker?), and was asked to deal with a lot of speculative balls. Few quality passes played his way all night. We would have needed someone like a prime Duncan to have put his mark on that game in the centre forward position. It was a tough night for him but the Vic-is-boss bandwagon is still rolling.
