Villa Request Everton Postponement

well it's the FA's fault for carrying on like idiots when we're probably in the worst of the pandemic, This gives DCL and Allan time to come back, not arsed about this at all bring on Leicester.

It's a great opportunity to get fit, and hopefully stay that way for a bit.

I agree that the FA and UEFA should have cancelled other competitions, but reality is that the revenue from those competitions is how those organizations pay their expenses. Having the organizing bodies making the calls on whether or not to play is a bit like having the bank robbers design security for the bank.

Governments should have stepped in and put a stop to the nonsense, because the associations would never do it.

This is a good thing as long as we're not made to play City next week.

If Villa have even half a team back into their training ground by Sunday, then they have to play v City.

This being said, while I'm happy for the rest, we have 15 days from one league game to the next, and we seem to be a team that thrives on building up momentum.

Assuming we don't have to play City next week, need to just have a good performance in the cup - will help that Doucoure can start that one since he'll be missing v Leicester - and keep up the wins. If we can get Allan back for that after a week of training with the team, even if it's just for a brief cameo to get up to speed, and then he can start v Leicester.

Or, just actually go out and make some signings. That'd be the sensible solution.

Don't really mind games being pushed back too much given the injuries, though it'll weaken us for Leicester now with Doucoure being out.

Hopefully Allan makes it back for that one.

Carlo said, 16 days before Leicester, that it would be 10-15 days for Allan.

Man City are already playing Villa midweek next week.

I've been saying this for months its an absolute farce playing international football during a global pandemic.
That's partly true and if you're looking at it from the perspective of teams like England then it does seem frustrating.

But international football is more than England and the larger footballing nations. A lot of FA's in smaller footballing nations need the money from international fixtures to keep them afloat.

And you did say earlier in this thread.....

You void the season and clubs lose millions in TV money.

Rightly or wrongly its in every clubs interest to keep playing the season out.

If the financial aspect justifies keeping the PL running then surely the same financial pressures justify keeping the international calendar running? Rightly or wrongly it is in the vast majority of FA's interests to keep playing the international season out.

Honestly think The FA Cup should be binned this season.

An utter joke that it was allowed to start, feel sorry for any lower league teams still in it, but it needs to end, now.
The irony is that it has been a much needed lifeline to some lower league teams. Even the ones who didn't get to the 3rd round would have made some very much needed money that may see them see out the year without folding.

The vaccine doesn't stop you getting covid though it's just supposed to make it less likely you get it. According the the leaflet from the NHS. Keeping topped up on vitamin d is as good in any case.

Not sure how relevant this response is...

They need to play when they can and get through this. Football is a light in a dark period of time for many people, it keeps people’s spirits up. International competitions should be postponed until further notice, while clubs are allowed to complete their domestic competitions. International football competitions could carry much higher risks due to the bringing together of people from many different countries and leagues.

And if they keep postponing games against clubs that can't seem to follow the rules?
Plus villa have other games to rearrange and City starting Europe again soon.
Everybody, including us should put out an available team. If five players had food poisoning then tough, likewise if you have a team and bench who do not have to isolate then game on.
