Violence in Mexico

Reading up on it more it seems security may have been in on it, several videos of them just standing by watching people get kicked to death and also a video of police supposedly opening a gate allowing home fans to rush the atlas fans.

It’s quite hard to figure out what all the claims are though without being able to read spanish.

It was just football fans, there’s no really much of an ultra movement there either. Just some terrible stuff from terrible people involved.

Villainous bad guy Pro Wrestlers still get assaulted in Mexico sometimes

Chances of that happening elsewhere are slim to none these days as everyone knows that it's just a show

In Mexico though, being a bad guy wrestler can still get you punched or even stabbed

It's a wild place

Sorry but this made me lol

Something about the football turns Mexicans utterly insane. Even the ones who have emigrated to the USA, who are perfectly nice and mild-mannered people, turn into obnoxious, homophobic, trash-chucking lunatics in a stadium.

I wanted to go to Mexico when i was in San Diego hanging out with thie guy i knew in California but he wouldnt cross the boarder, said it was far too dangerous, pretty much said if we crossed to Tijuana we wouldnt come back.
He was telling me about rival drug gangs choping peoples heads off with chainsaws and similar behavior, apparently south central LA was a breeze in comparison

Oh wow just WOW.
Unfortunately I’m not making any of that up. Mexico’s national team has played numerous friendlies and CONCACAF matches in the United States (like the Gold Cup and Nations League) and their fans are terribly behaved. Fortunately not to the point of violence like at Atlas, but it’s always a fiasco. They’ve had to play closed doors matches at Azteca because of “the chant” and they’re a good bet to throw projectiles at an opposing corner taker late on.

You have a country where crime is rampant, drug lords rule the roost and the cops are crooked as well.

Of course i'm sure Mexico ain't all bad, and that it does have it's positive aspects.

However it's a country that i'm more than happy to avoid visiting, and i don't see that changing sadly.
I traveled around pretty much all of Mexico for 5 months.. Beautiful country, some fantastic people. But don't mess with them..saw a guy have his arms chopped off and they threw him in the sea as he raped a local girl.

Went to a match in azteca on my own. Was pretty mental. Didn't see any trouble. In Chile however (watching everton del mar away) they employ police to protect the players with riot shields to stop them being hit with projectiles when taking corners

Do have any opinion, on what countries in central/south America would be safest in terms of crime?

The place obviously has awesome natural beauty to it, great weather and some hot women as well! But the place to me and many others i'm sure, comes across as very wild and crazy!

I spent two years travelling South America and Central America. Never had any problems. Even in el Salvador and Colombia. I'm sure if you were part of a drug cartel or walking around with jewelry on it may be different.
