Violence in Mexico

Do have any opinion, on what countries in central/south America would be safest in terms of crime?

The place obviously has awesome natural beauty to it, great weather and some hot women as well! But the place to me and many others i'm sure, comes across as very wild and crazy!
Corky, I was in Lima on a work gig some years ago. Lovely people. Didn't have time to explore further unfortunately. Had no problems.

Like every city, from Cork to Dublin to Liverpool to Paris you need to keep your wits about you.

The only time I was mugged was in a train station in Brussels. I was complacent and distracted looking for my ticket. Within seconds my wallet and phone were gone as was the thief.

I'm living in Galway for the past few years, and since the pandemic started it's gotten very rough.

Last friday afternoon someone was attacked by a gang of feral youths in Eyre Square.

He suffered a broken jaw as well. So yes crime and violence most certainly is everywhere nowadays sadly.

I have lived in Kilkenny for 32 years and thankfully I have never had a problem. Always having German Shepherds since 2000 has meant no problems at home - I live in the country side. I was the first on my road to get a GSD. There are now 12 GSDs within a mile radius! :) Zero burglaries. Fabulous dogs.

I just don't frequent the city at night as I have got older. I know John Street late at night is dodgy, more down to drunken kids than to risk of robbery.

Actually it was a broken nose not a broken jaw, and it was a 13 year old kid they attacked. Since the pandemic started on street drinking has become more of a problem, hence the increase in anti social behaviour in our cities and towns.

Sad to hear that. As I said we just don't go into the city at night anymore. Based on news reports, Kilkenny remains pretty safe unless you stupidly go looking for trouble.

Did the truth ever come out? All those claimed dead at the start I don't think actually did.

Don't think so, I cant find any new stories about the event since it happened.

I saw the videos and thought maybe the people in them were just unconscious given the 'official reports' of no deaths but that was me being very generous, id bet more money on them being dead tbh.

You also had major outlets like ESPN basically saying that the footage makes it look like people died, from memory there were eyewitnesses who said people died as well.

Then it just vanished and was forgotten about. Maybe if I was to trawl through Mexican press for the past month I might find some updates but it seems to have been swept under the rug.

Im not a conspiracy theorist but with the World Cup coming up in Mexico in 2026 an event like this could have serious consequences.

I traveled around pretty much all of Mexico for 5 months.. Beautiful country, some fantastic people. But don't mess with them..saw a guy have his arms chopped off and they threw him in the sea as he raped a local girl.
What tv programme was that on.
