Mate, go and do some digging if you don't believe me. It's common knowledge Chelsea and City were also very interested. It was all over the media when the RS caused that kerfuffle. Type into google Chelsea/Man City linked Van Dijk. You'll find a few articles on it. I can't be arsed myself as it's highly unlikely we'll be signing him anyway.

Be more like £170 or so but I take your point. They don't have a lot of sellable players that I can see. Maybe £50-£60 million on Moreno, Sakho and Markovic to come in. Net spend of £100 million plus. Doesn't fit their usual MO

They aren't dropping 100m+ into the team, deluded rs think that cos they have CL it means there's gonna be a money tree, not realising that the main money comes over time through commercial deals, so they have to consistently be in it for those to kick in

Also Sakho, Moreono and Markovic have gone from '100% will be sold' and for high touted fees, to now the stories are suggesting they may be loaned out instead, if that happens - a massive hole appears in their funding for transfers

The point Im making is though, that wouldn't be down to the money the club brings in. That would be more down to their owners.

But they sold somebody to Hull for the same price as Robertson. And Lucas, not sure how much he was sold for but similar to Solanki? But I agree, I can't see it. Sure Keita isn't going anyway apparently

I don't for one minute think there wasn't idle click bait speculation. But there isn't one player on this planet who'd rather play for liverpool over city or Chelsea. There really isn't.

Exactly, it will take a net spend of AT LEAST £100 million for them to carry out those transfers.
