Just so I’m clear. Southampton report them for tapping up. The RS then issue a very embarrassing public apology stating they have officially ended any and all interest in the player but actually now they’re just waiting for their bezzie mates Southampton to give them the green light to sign said player for 25m less than has been previously reported. Makes perfect sense.

If you really want the player then I don't include you in my original comment mate and don't mean to offend. Just some of the hypocrisy and furore surrounding VVD on this forum has been hilarious. When that story broke about him "choosing" the RS, there was an initial fume which then transformed into the player being totally overpriced and overrated. Now there's a smidgen of a chance he could be coming here, he's one of the greatest centre halves in the league again. Didn't we go through all this in January?

We have accepted £60m from Chelsea but as you offended us you have to pay £65m-£70m take it or leave it.

Or maybe, just maybe, the Manager might think that Solanke is a better player, or maybe, DCL isn't as good as everyone on here chooses to believe. Just a thought

So, to sum up. Our midfield is ace. We had the Prems 2nd best striker............and we finished 7th. What went wrong?
Also 35m for Andy Carroll was indeed an awful purchase, but if we payed that for him and he scored the winner against them at Wembley in a FA Cup Semi, he'd be rightly regarded as a legend here for evermore.

Fair enough, I want to win every Derby, and losing that Semi hurt, big time. Getting 3 points in the Derby, does that matter? As we're not winning the League. Who cares?

And we still couldn't win a Derby, and they still finished above us. If they can finish top4 with a bogey keeper, centre halves, full backs and no midfield, imagine if they were to have a good transfer window.

People questioning the RS spending 70m like it's our money! Whilst we're bidding 40m on average like Siggy. The world has gone mad, prices are crazy. But I'd rather spend 70 on Van Dijk than 40 on Siggy. If it goes up to 50, we may as well all pack up and go home. On someone who can take a good free kick.

This thread should just be closed and subsequently reopened if and when any actual transfer activity regarding VVD is actually commencing. Trawl through the pages and I think it's pretty clear that quite a few posters mention the RS. I guess it just as to be in a frothing at the mouth kind of way not to get your senses going.

Pick posts out without the context they were written. Yeah ok mate. Most of them posts were in reply to what I believe to be unfounded 'confidence' (if that's the right word you use) . It's been a good summer for us, we're spending money, but some of the posts I've read, we've signed a peak Rooney, the best GK in the League, the best CD in the League, the new Cruyff,a new Spanish superstar and it looks like we're getting one of the best attacking Mids in the League too. And that's just SteveO! I'm a little more realistic than some. I also read that the RS will struggle with the demands of Champs League and that we can take advantage of that, they might, but are people forgetting that we're going to have these demands too, perhaps even more so. I could go through every above post and answer each one individually to give it context, but you obviously have an agenda. So carry it on.
