Transfer Rumour Virgil Van Dijk

Maybe he won't be signing for the Rs

Daily Mail conveniently forgeting that Liverpool illegally tapped up Van Dijk, and that's why that deal hasn't happened and no longer should happen....

As for Keita.... How dare leipzig not except Liverpool's valuation.... I seem to recall Liverpool being fairly insistent on Raheen Sterling's ridiculous price tag with Man City....What goes around comes around....

VVD is not coming here, and he's not worth 60 million. And I don't want to hear, "it's not my money" because there is opportunity cost. We could probably buy 2 very good players for that much, or 4 useful ones, or 6 exciting prospects to stash away on loan. We don't have unlimited resources, and 60m is a stupid price.

Also, just because Paul Joyce didn't say we made an offer doesn't mean we didn't look into it so please stop with the, "we should go all out for ..." and "we should try a cheeky bid for ..." comments. This applies to all threads, not just this one. I'm telling you this as a favor because saying things like that makes you seem like an 8 year-old.

Sorry. I don't mean to be rude but some of you need some tough love. This hurts me more than it hurts you.

good points to consider after we've gone all out to get VvD and throw a cheeky bid in for Keita because it's not my money...After that I look forward to being sensible like you ;)

Southampton do want to sell him, I'd say, it's what they do... The price is ludicrous though. Yeah, he's a good player but spending £60 million or more on him is madness. A huge gamble for whoever takes it.

Do they though? People said that about us with Stones, we just wanted more money etc when in fact Martinez just didnt want to sell as it was too late in thd window.

Saints dont stand to lose anything by keeping him one more year, plus they managed to do it with Schneiderlin and Wanyama.

Well obviously I don't know but I'd imagine that the carrot of £60 million dangling in front of them is pretty tempting for a player who doesn't want to be there. The other two you mention were much smaller fees but you make a valid point.

Scores far more goals. Zlatan isn't getting any younger either.

Plus Rom was scoring in a side with average players. United had much more quality

Ibra can actually control a football and bring others into play . Lukaku will always score goals , he's a world class goal scorer.... he's not a world class player though.. in big games when decent hold up play is required he will stand out like dogs balls ..... inseriously doubt if he can improve this part of his game to the level required

There was a stat the other day saying how Rooney had given the ball away more than any other united player last year

Sandro is not a hold up player

That Rooney stat is surprising .... mind you if he can learn to hold onto the ball to long, make incorrect decisions while reducing his work rate cease to tackle...... he could be the perfect replacement for Barkley ...

Plus the year they refused to sell Schneidlin, they'd already sold several players IIRC, so he was probably the victim of them not wanting to lose too much face with their support

With the way fee's are going, they will have a £75 -£80mill carrot dangling next year. If he had 2-3 years left i'd assume he was 100% off, however with 5 left I think they will hold on to him for another year at least.

They might, aye, but they also might not - who knows what way the new season will go for him. I mean, nobody would pay £50 million for Stones this summer presumably. He's been injured for six months too and they have signed a CB this summer already. I think they'd be mad not to sell him personally.

The Trickys haven't got any dough lads. They're waiting to sell a Brazilian carthorse so they can buy Robertson from Hull.

Anyway, very much doubt that Van Dirgel would be coming here. If he makes proper noises abar moving on, the bigger sides will be in because he's caught the eye once or twice.

Thinking that with the Trickys not being able to get him, he'll get restless and try the arl transfer request game. That or the holding out game.

hahaha he's such an idiot.

So what happens when they do eventually give up and have to move onto plan b or c (if they have them, because they don't have a plan b gameplan)? "we are delighted to welcome this player to the club ... of course, i wanted a porsche, i offered leipzig the money, but they would not sell, they told me to go for another colour .... so i've bought myself a lime green vauxhall astra, i welcome him to liverpool fc".
