I really don't get the fuss with him.
£60m/£70? It's utterly ridiculous. I WANT Liverpool to lash that on him.
Centre halves going for that money is bizarre...I'm not really on board with the prospective £45m price tag for Sigurdsson but at least he is a player who can make a significant difference in a game. If Liverpool's defence is a bit dodgy and exposed at times, plonking Van Dijk in there won't make that much difference. A defence is a unit and that sort of money should be buying you an entire back 4.

How would Liverpool doing their usual thang scupper a bidding war between city and Chelsea? They just aren't interested. Cos he isn't very good. You seem awfully concerned about defending his ability. Any particular reason?

Because the RS publically made it known that he wanted to play for them and them alone. It's common knowledge both Chelsea and City were interested in signing him. Still might be. In fact Chelsea were favourites to sign him a few month ago.


And I'm not concerned about his defending ability. There is nothing to be concerned about. He's one of the best defenders in the prem. I'm just not sad enough to claim he's crap just because he's been linked with that lot.

City and Chelsea have expressed interest in buying the player, but didn't pursue it any further when they realised his heart was set on the RS. You obviously don't rate the lad, but many do.

I think Koeman and his team played a big part in getting the best out of VVD.
He made Fonte look top class too.

I am very excited to see how he can enhance Keane who already looks a fabulous player.

Totally understandable that we would like VVD here as we have seen how Koeman had him playing at Southampton.

No guarantee he could hit those heights in Deirdre Barlows set up though.

Every club is now free to tap up any player they want, the FA have ended that rule simply because they didn't want to punish Liverpool... How could they possibly apply this rule to another club now without exposing their bias.....

I don't think he's a bad player - in fact he is very competent. However he will not be coming to Goodison so I really would prefer that we did not retain a thread on him in the EF. It is ridiculous.

I don't like anyone bar Everton, but I'd walk to Southampton and give him a Poggy back to Chelsea if needs be. They sign him and I'm certain they get top 6 next season.
