I thought he did though, he got forward, he was composed in possession, he made some good tackles some of them as the last man, he got balls into the box.

I am not suprised so many players struggle at us and go elsewhere and are fine, so many of our fans, just write players off immediately
Yeah it's lucky we've got level headed people like you mate, who can come to the rescue of those players by throwing other players under the bus instead. You're so much better than the rest of us.

I say the same about every player and manager we have, i'll comment on what I see. I'm not making judgements about his entire career, but based on what i've seen of him so far i'm not impressed. He doesn't appear to be particularly dangerous going forward, but he has some concerning defensive issues too, and that's not an ideal combination. He's young and can improve, but we're in the midst of a relegation battle and i'm not overly keen on putting down half decent 6/10 performances as a success at the moment.

Throwing others under the bus? Kenny threw himself under the bus. He has had more than enough chances and has proven he cannot do it at this level.

Generally if you're in a relegation battle its because you aren't putting enough half decent 6/10 performances in to be honest. So a 6/10 is an improvement on this season

Like i said, i'm quite content to comment on someone's performances as they happen. If you think it's better to wait until someone's played 30 games and then you can say whatever you want about them then that's fine, but I'm not sure it's quite as different as you think it is.

6/10 isn't bad. I'm not saying he had a bad game or is a bad player, i'm just saying I can understand why people are concerned about him because he hasn't looked particularly impressive so far.

Fair enough

He will get a fair chance. That doesn't preclude assessment.

He wasn't good to go. How is that writing him off?

I despair of your inexactitude.

You've said he's weakened us. How is that you not writing him off? You said he'd offer more than Digne but if we lost Digne and gained him and are weaker now... how does that work.

I said the January window weakened us.

More inexactitide and BS from you.

...and I'm defo not the only one who sees it.

I didnt think he did too much wrong, but unfortunately the flipside I dont think he contributed much going forward.

I am not sure if its confidence, or a lack of ability, or instructions. We just seem to have nobody who can really create problems down the wing after getting forward.

Just seems 'hesitant' to really push on.

I hope its a lack of confidence more than anything.

Hes just different from what we're used to imo. He's not going to be a marauding wing back like Digne. If he can be defensively solid and whip the odd ball in while Patterson on the other side takes up a more attacking role then it could work out. I still think it's a case of him needing more game time too to adapt.

I dont disagree. It's easily said, and almost never the case with Everton, but had we been in a good place this season then he'd be alot easier to bed in and play with more confidence.

problem if we dont have games for him to adapt really. SAme with Patterson.

To be fair, there were a few he put in yesterday that had a decent shape about them. This is the first time I've thought that.

My perception of him is that he looks after the ball really well. If Lampard sticks around, this could be something which helps us. Yesterday there was a bit more overlapping than I've seen from him before. I think he needs to develop physically too.

He isn't ready though, that much is clear, but perhaps that should be absolutely obvious given he came here from Ukraine

The crosses thing is what I'm paying more attention to - the Kyiv stats don't suggest he's a volume crosser or one who's massively effective, but then part of that can easily be the way a team plays. See Digne's stats for us this season vs under Ancelotti for example. There's always context, but I'd say at the moment I'm of the opinion that he'll end up a competent full back without ever becoming a dynamic one who offers much in the final 3rd, and we'll probably need that
They had decent shape but no conviction. Digne used to annoy me don't get me wrong if he'd just float ones in but mostly his crosses had a bit of power. Myko's all look nice but don't actually go anywhere. Yes you need players attacking but you can't just hang crosses up with no pace, and that's what he did.

I fully agree on him taking care of the ball. And again, all of his numbers from Kyiv showed this. He doesn't lose possession. But he also does lack conviction to his play. I'm not trying to write him off. But, we spent £17m on him, and he's nowhere near ready. £17m when the club are absolutely rinsed financially and we only got £22-23m for Digne...

He needs to stay in and have a run, absolutely. He'll probably get it, in the Championship.

We didnt spend £17mil on him....

Up to £17 mil including all clauses was the fee.

Its like saying Patterson was £16mil. If he hits all clauses then it will go from £11mil up to £16mil.

Dele didnt cost £40mil...he was free with clauses taking it to potentially £40mil.

Iwobi didnt cost £35mil unless clauses were achieved.

Richarlison didnt cost £50mil unless clauses were achieved.

Same with Mykolenko...only difference is we dont know the fee without clauses.

If they all performed to 6/10 we wouldn't be looking down the relegation barrel. Instead mostly 2 or 3/10 all season.
