You see I thought he slotted in fine and I don't think we missed Digne at all yesterday.

I think he will be fine. He gets up and down the pitch with ease.
Think we’d be missing Digne if we were used to seeing him (and the team) performing well. We didn’t see Digne at his best for a while and Mykolenko will play to at least that level while he’s finding his feet. Hopefully he improves and becomes a great left back for the future.

I still don't know on him.

His positioning today was awful going forward. He was either too narrow or too deep but I'm hoping that's just him not used to playing at LWB.

I think he's a more natural full-back and defensively he was okay.

But I did say, he'd make us realise how good Digne is and I think we're seeing that.

But, with Godfrey out, and him being our only LB, he's going to play so let's hope he stays fit and keeps on improving.
A few times he was a bit narrow yeah but I think it's that he's still a bit unsure about himself and still adapting to the league. There's a cautiousness about him and I think had he came in the summer and had a preseason we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Needs to stop crosses coming in better, work on positioning abit and I think when he settles he'll offer more going forward.

Digne is a very attacking wing back who will create more than any fullback we have for a while. Criminal Benitez was allowed to chase him out, Gerrard said himself the only reason they were able to get him was due to a strange set of circumstances, but its apples and oranges for me. Mykolenko is probably more suited to full back so the difference will be noticeable going forward but Digne is also in the peak of his career at 28/29 and Mykolenko is 22 and still developing.

I don't know if we 'missed' Digne, I just think it's clear Mykolenko is just nowhere near as good,

but it was his third game, he's learning. He just seems a bit nervous, which is understandable.

I think he made some really good defensive tackles/interceptions but some of his touches were really off. I don't think he does get up and down the pitch with ease either, he looks out of position a lot of time going forward.

I think that's more him playing LWB though. It's really not him. He's a LB and probably a more defensive one at that. But working under Cole and with a bit of Baines for support then hopefully once he's settled into the league we'll see the best of him.

But let's put it this way, I wouldn't be surprised if we're in the market for a more experienced LB in the summer.

Yeah 100% agree mate. I'm definitely not writing him off.

Posted before that I thought he was fine.

He came inside alot rather than holding the width. Lampard was shouting "Myko, Myko" at him quite a lot during the game so not sure if that was tactical.

Hes basically playing premier league games after a month or so off on a mid season break.

Got in some very good attacking positions and a bit unlucky with some of the passes/crosses.
I think he just looked a bit lost at times but I wouldn't say he was a particular weakness.

He can only blame himself if he fails at Everton
He now has 2 of the best fullbacks to ever play in the premier league coaching him daily if he can't learn of them 2 then he won't learn of anyone

Will have to give him the rest of this season and and full pre season. Before we can’t start to see where he may go. Culture Change and not knowing English will be his biggest challenges short term. He is doing English lessons so soon hopefully that’s sorted. He just needs to get settled first especially being a young lad. But I agree with you on the football side of things he has the best mentors any fall back could ask for.

Still think it was absolute madness for the Fat Waiter to sell Digne and bring him in to expect him to be first choice for the rest of the season.
