Godfrey. LB, certre circle sweeper like Coleman used to be. Provide that cover and pace to sure us up on set pieces. Was a hopeless cause admittedly mate, but if you watch it, he’s the last man, essentially the centre half, he’s come across, it’s clear Nunes has out paced Gana, he has to try and stop the play, the cross I think comes earlier then he expected, to be fair to Nunes it’s a good cross at pace behind the line he’s holding, he’s trusting that out other defenders are getting back and he may be able to force Nunes down the line, if he can hold up play - the others defenders are outpaced by Salah etc.
Id be critical about other aspects of his game yesterday, but we backed ourselves not to get caught on the counter from our own set price and possession - we played that % and got stung, he came across as last man, when Gueye lost his legs, trusting his other colleagues get back - they dont they were beaten in the foot race. I wouldn’t crotosce the lad for what defenders are thought to do as last man. Useless marking a man or apace when you are the last man.
For crying out loud, the lad’s home country is burning to the ground as we speak and people are criticising his performances???
Sigh.
Can point the finger in a number of directions for that goal. For me it's a failure it's even reached that point - we should be committing a tactical foul to stop that counter from going, which is what the RS would've done in the other direction.Did not do very well as a LB, down to him that the RS got their first goal.
Zinchenko’s home country is burning to the ground as we speak and he’s been consistently brilliant.
Come on, Mike. You know better than to react to my mindless trolling.Zinchenko’s home country is burning to the ground as we speak and he’s been consistently brilliant.
We should have committed the foul, but on the other hand we shouldn't have had to. A team shouldn't be getting a 3 on 1 from our set piece, and we shouldn't have to make tactical fouls 90 yard from our own goal to stop the opposition scoring. If Mykolenko had held his line and made the pass for Nunez difficult then the chances are he'd have carried on running and we could have held them up long enough to regain our shape. By wandering into no mans land he turns a potentially dangerous but controllable situation into a gilt edged chance, it's genuinely just abysmal defending. Can point the finger in a number of directions for that goal.
