Sickening the amount of money flushed down the toilet. One things for certain, we wouldn't get anywhere near 17m back for him. Looks all the world like a solid if unspectacular 4m defender.

Please post more. Very sensible and insightful take.I don't think it's obvious that this is Myko's fault. Ideally, the inner spaces should be prioritized over the outer ones, and it can be argued that Saka is in his zone. At the same time, it is worth watching the goal in the replay, and looking at the excellent positioning of the Arsenal players - if you wonder what positional play is, then you see the essence here. One of the purposes is precisely through the positioning to set up the opponents in lose-lose situations.
But anyway, it's worth looking at the positioning of Tarkowski. He is pulled out of the positioning by Martin Ø, and in this way a space opens up between Tarkowski and Myko. Tarkowski makes a classic mistake here, pressing before the pass is played, instead he is deceived by a visual fake. His primary task in that situation is to shift, and cover for the back - lie on the right side of Saka on the goal side. It should also be said that Gana does a terrible job of closing down passing angles.
That’s in a nutshell. He’s not comically bad or anything, he’s just the type of player that usually spends most of their career in a second rate European league and maybe ends up at Burnley/norwich/Fulham for £3-4m in their late 20s.One things for certain, we wouldn't get anywhere near 17m back for him. Exactly must be something more thereYes I had wondered this myself, Myko is so poor I can't see how he has stayed in the team.

What’s he standing on?I don't think he's as bad as some say. I think he mostly works well defensively. The goal is difficult, have to give some credit to Arsenal too. Finding these little pockets is what Arsenal do.
However, I would criticize Gana on this goal as well. He is too passive, and does not come out to press Zinchenko, which gives Zinchenko time and space, as well as good passing angles. Then the defensive line should shift - not much. Tarkowski is also a couple of meters ahead of the other three in the defensive line, and is positioned incorrectly in relation to defending the inside and giving Myko Cover.
I also think Pickford should save Saka's shot. It's a bad angle, and goalkeepers save shots from that position 7 out of 10 times on average. Cover the nearest post, and stand on your feet.

Oh quality wise yeah, no doubt. I was talking more about the price and profile though. He’s just a bog standard journeyman type that you can get for a couple of million and yet we paid £15-20m for him at a time when we’re seemingly unable to find any money to bring in the type of player we actually need. It looks like a really poor piece of business so far. That's kinda where we're at right now.
rather have Erik pieters being honest.Proper Erik Pieters.

Myko makes me sad, Tony Hibbert with anxiety the best way i've heard someone describe him

Think you are confusing Keane & Tarkowski, they had been dragged into reversed C/H positions a minute or two earlier. But otherwise spot on.I don't think it's obvious that this is Myko's fault.
