It really kills any threat especially when you have someone like McNeil ahead of him who also offers little threat, We just waste the entire left hand side of the pitch.

This is partly what I was thinking of. It may be as simple as he's not the most able at getting forward, but we've seen him go forward and get crosses in.

Does he need Gray in front of him to stretch defences and provide support? Has he been told to limit the movement forward, as this will open us up?

We then wonder why Maupay or Dom get no service, when our wingers and full backs don't make the runs.

I wonder how much of this is tactical. For whatever reason, we appear to funnel a lot of our play down the right, whereas in the past it was the opposite.

To be successful, we need to move away from being the predictable team that we are.

None of that is tactical. There were times when it was there to put a cross into the box and he just turned around and passed it backwards. Lampard’s spoken a couple of times earlier in the season about working with him to get him contributing to the team going forwards.

He’s taking the easy option every time, either because he knows he’s not able to do it or doesn’t have the confidence to try- either way, it’s really limiting our play.

I can see why people say he's okay. He keeps himself out the game so much that he doesn't do that much wrong, but this in turn makes him a complete passenger. Gets carried every match.
