I thought the ball hit him in the lower back when blocking a shot. On the TV he looked like he was then saying, when lying on the floor, ‘back’ but I don’t know if he was speaking English.

He is one of the best defensively in the league. I agree he needs to do more going the other way. Ideally we need another option there, but I can’t see us getting an upgrade with the current financial situation.

He does more going the other way for his country, so perhaps there's a tactical issue at club level? ;)
He also did for us in about 2 games, even scored goals. Then didn't do it ever again.

We have no full backs attacking ever, doesn't matter who they are, as this is how we set up.

Going forward Myko is definitely not the best or anything but he can provide width and some "good enough" crossing - he just won't for us.

Bizarrely we also don't have full backs crossing from deep.

2 assists in 42 caps and none for 2 years so he's not exactly Roberto Carlos for them either.

It's funny you mention him as I was about to say even the likes of Cafu, Alves, Roberto Carlos, etc didn't register a goal contribution per game. It seems to me that's what some people are expecting from Mykolenko (or whoever plays there), and it's complete nonsense, particularly with a "defence first' manager like Dyche. Part of me also feels like we were spoilt with Baines (and Digne to a lesser extent). The former was a generational talent in my view and I believe some folk have been "conditioned" into thinking that's what every full-back should perform like. It's just asine to expect those levels of production.

Baines just made it look so easy

Well Roberto Carlos got an assist about every 6 games at international level which is a lot better than every 21 games so its not a very good comparison. Mykolenko doesn't have a single assist for us so no I don't think one every game is what people are expecting really thats a bit of a silly thing to say. He just isn't very good going forward its that simple it doesn't mean he needs binning but whats the point in pretending its not true when it clearly is we can just appreciate what hes good at without making out like hes something he isn't.
