Just read he needs an OP, but they wont do 1 cos he wants to be fit for The Euros, so fully expect him to have an OP after The Euros and miss most of next season.

Nightmare.

Guess we need a new LB.

….not for me. As much as he’s improved I think having Branthwaite covering behind has helped him significantly and Mykolenko has still to provide an assist in an Everton shirt.

I’d actually have Branthwaite as POY and YPOY, with Tarkowski and Pickford as his nearest challengers. Those three have been the bedrock of the success of avoiding relegation.

So we all agree he is our player of the season right?

I think hes clearly player of the season. From the first game until playing on after a bad injury hes been class.

I take Eggs' point about Mykolenko looking better due to Branthwaite being behind him...but how about Branthwaite looking better due to Mykolenko next to him?

For me, Myko POTY & Branthwaite YPOTY

…..my point is, watch how often in a game Branthwaite clears up in that channel behind Mykolenko. Staggered anybody can give a full back POTY without a single assist to his name, be interesting how many MOM he has in our polls but hey ho. Maybe he’s ’most improved’ ;)

Under Ancelotti we went with that 4 centre backs defence. I would have no problem doing the same under Dyche and none of them getting any assists from open play if our defence was watertight.

Theres other ways to play football than full backs bombing on.

….ha, ha. A full back playing all season doesn’t have to ‘bomb on’ to create just a single assist. The inclusion of Branthwaite actually gives him a bit more scope to get forward. I like the lad but I think he’s some way from POTY.

Good thing is that our left side with those two is so solid. If we had that on the right it can only be a good thing.

…the ideal scenario is outstanding CBs or even defensive midfielders that allow FBs an attacking dimension to our game (@davek referred to it earlier as ‘blend’). We desperately need creativity from wide areas, including contribution from full-back.

And as @Saint Domingo mentioned earlier: we need pace into this team. We are chronically short of that. Hopefully we can get a right-sided FB who can at least help add that dimension to our game.
