So tired of this. His PRIMARY JOB is defending. If his standards at this side of his game have dropped, why on earth would a manager encourage him to push forward and risk being out of position too? Every manager I know of who's won trophies has ensured the back line is a tight unit. Otherwise you just become Newcastle under Keegan or us under Martinez.

I'm not sure it is in 2021. Most full backs are better going forward these days.

Would be nice to get someone who can do both. They do exist.

Right now. I'd take more defenders at Everton. It might be a little old school. But we're soft as butter at the back.

Let's be real, we all want/need this kid to be good. He's either pushing Digne into rediscovering better form or straight up replacing him and serving as our only left back. If it's happening - and it looks like it is - people need to give him a fair chance as it's not his fault the circumstances he's come into the club or who he's been signed by. HOWEVER, if we sign Mykolenko for actual money this Jan without signing a right back there will really be nothing positive anyone can say about this situation.

We've been here and done this. Ancelotti wasnt stupid and he protected the defence by virtualy sitting the midfield in front of them in lots of games. They needed it because nearly all of them switch off in games and cant do the basics.
