That centre back Zabarnyi is very highly rated as well.

Someone to look at if we sell Mina perhaps...
very good center-back who is on the top 20 list of the best young players under 20 this year. Chelsea offered 12 million euros for him a year ago, but was refused. nobody will not sell him for at least 2-3 years cause he is just 19 years old.

also Mykolenko showed himself well as a center-back and can always close this position.

Better to buy at 19 and have the player adjuat to the club, league and country.

At 22 as we see with Mykolenko the players value will be higher, although more 'experienced and proven'.

I like the idea of having Branthwaite and Zabarnyi (or similar) both 19 and Godfrey at 23. Then one more 'senior' centre back who is the leader and 'star' of the defence.

That could be a very good foundation for the squad.

My main issue with this transfer is that it is not addressing our biggest issues. We need a right back and a CM. LB was not really a priority area. I can’t comment on the player, because i don’t know anything about him.
i think it has been mentioned a few times but at left back we have a right footed Godfrey as back up. We need a right back but at the mo we still have Coleman, Kenny, Godfrey and even Holgate as back ups so it does look like top priority is LB. We deffo need a RB and I expect it to be in the pipeline but depending on finances that may have to wait until the summer. It is a classy CM I would like first over a RB

If Digne goes then LB is a priority.

I didnt watch the euros, but a couple of things:

1: Dumfries was in high demand on this forum in the summer and I was a lone voice in the darkness...i doubt many have seen him for Inter but, suffice to say he's awful.
I never fancied Dumfries, he had a fairly good Euros but he reminded me far too much of Sidibe position wise, seemed to be everywhere except where he needed to be.

Agreed, still think would have been better than a finished Coleman this year though.

The type like Dumfries i'd have been okay with if we were goign to go ahead with a back 3. Plenty of pace and an attacking outlet but has that extra defender to close gaps more.

Problem is we weill still have a right footed Godfrey as back up LB in January as Digne looks almost certain to be gone.

Ultimately, we need both LB and RB. Both are huge priorties.

As well as some actual footballers in midfield.

But you countered by saying we should lump in on Max Arrons who has been worse considering he is not in a new team and country but established

THere is back up and there is back up. I am near certain our back up options across the board are some of the worst in the prem CF,RB,LB,DM,GK etc.
If we want to progress at all, we cannot shoe horn players into positions where they "manage" for weeks/months at a time and expect to be a good side.

you would be right if it was a player from the countries like poland, slovakia, serbia etc.

but our East European players have a slightly different mentality and as practice shows, players who move to foreign championships in their youth do not achieve anything at all, but simply get lost, once again - not achieving anything. they just lose their heads from another reality and nothing will change in this regard for maybe next 5-10 years. at the age of 22-23 they become more mature and they can already be taken somewhere since they are already more serious about this and at least understand something with their own heads.

so you need to know, when you take a player of 18-20 years old from the Ukrainian, Russian or maybe Turkish championship, then 90 percent сhance that he will simply be lost and become a bust.
