Confirmed Signing Vitaliy Mykolenko

I am talking about the reaction to Richarlison when he signed, before he played, just as I am now talking about Mylenko who has now supposedly signed but not yet played.

Agreed, we had seen and heard of Richarlison whereas I at least have not even heard of the other.
We are talking about reactions to signings not performances.
Demarai Greay would be another example. He has gone from being dear at 1.6m to cheap at 20m in about four months.
No you said we need to be patient with Mykolenko - if you are changing the goalposts now then that’s fine - let’s hope he gets off to a fast start - considering who he is replacing I would expect him to

I think it means Digne is on the way out - I'm sad to see Digne go and this is all dependent on how much money we can get in for him, but isn't this what we have to do to succeed as a club?
  • Pick up undervalued high potential players (Digne on the fringes of several massive clubs)
  • get as much out of them as we can in 3 or 4 years
  • sell them ahead of their prime when their value is maximised having performed well for us
  • reinvest the money into the process and start again
I think if you think of it like this, Digne being sold is much easier to stomach - sad though I am to see him going.
The theory sounds excellent. Many successful clubs operate on that basis. The most important element is of course the quality of the recruitment. So forgive me if I remain a bit sceptical. :)

There is a few people mentioning bringing in youth, it got me thinking about the Premier League standard and how it is evolving and the pace is ever increasing. You see how Coleman has been destroyed over the last two years. I reckon that in the not too distant future the sort of age of premiership players will be 18-28 and then after that you could be too slow to stay in the game. Look at what tater is doing at the Arsenal, they have some decent young players coming through and it seems to be clicking for them. I just hope that someone can get a grip of our youth system and abandon this jobs for the lads ethos. This Ukrainian lad seems to be pleasing people with his signing so hopefully it is a sign of things to come, I don't know a thing about him apart from I hope he has the strength of Ivan Drago.

This fascination with players under 30 being terrible is pure Football Manager infiltrating modern football criticism.

I'm sure club's in the future would hate to have old timers on par with Lewandowski, Ronaldo, De Bruyne, Kante, Benzema just plodding along in their side.
