A simple PR exercise from the club would be to leak information to the press that Moshiri really wants one candidate, then appoint another and attribute it to the influence of a club legend or a different member of the board. The fans will rally against any choice Moshiri makes. If the club then appoint Lampard and say it was a choice fought hard for by Sharp or Baines, who knows him from England, then fans think they have got their own way and got one over on Moshiri.

We all know that nobody is appointed without approval from Moshiri anyway and it is likely that whoever is eventually appointed was "Moshiri's Man" all along. But some fans can be manipulated in this way to get in line.

You could well be right, but there is always the outside chance of a curve ball. Martinez was supposedly very likely a week ago now not even a candidate. I see our owner as quite compulsive so anything could happen.

I read a report about an hour ago that dialog is still open between Everton and the Belgium FA. Literally anything could happen.
all of the below has happened in the space of an hour:
VP is Moshiri's choice and is getting the job
VP now backing off due to fan protests
Simms leaves to go to Hearts
Lampard now back in race
Dobbin to sign a contract
Lampard now favourite
Dele Alli interest increases!

It's not even 3.30 in the afternoon. Theirs plenty of time for several twist and turns.

You really need to disconnect between where we are because of benitez and where we should be with a half decent manager.

We are far better than a relegation battle. It's not hard for any manager with knowledge of this league to win a few games when the teams below you struggle to do it. All we need to do is beat the teams below us and we are safe ffs

I am reading this at 3.47 and nothing new has developed on any front.... disappointing.

Latest media reports have suggested that Pereira has applied because he knew Kenwirght and used his lawyer, not Joorabchian.

It’s obvious that no one really knows what is going on, so the adoption of one narrative and then the seething that has followed hasn’t been helpful.
