Considering van Nistelrooij is injured, I believe Real will be in the market for a new striker when the window re-opens in January. Don't think it will be a world class superstar, but more a stop gap solution. Agree with TB, he'd probably not good enough for Real, but it won't harm his career signing for them, I think. Fill in for RvN and bolster your bank-account during that time. If he finds himself in the reserves after RvN's comeback, there will always be clubs interested in signing him.

Anyway, would be very surprised if he signed for everton, as there are clearly more pressing needs in our team to be looked at.

The doubt is whether R. Madrid will look for a stop gap experienced player like Crespo or Milito till V. Nistelroy returns or go for a longer term prospect like Huntelaar considering that Ruud isn't getting any younger. Knowing the demands of that club I imagine they'll go for the former. I think Milito will be there man as he's got a good track record in La Liga and could play in the CL.

Don't think Genoa will let Milito leave, so soon after signing him. vagner Love could very well be one of the strikers they're looking at. Think he'd be a better option at the moment, than Huntelaar. He's having his worst season in his career. Don't think he'll ever be as good as RvN.

A good defensive minded midfielder and a winger is what were after I reckon. The rest is sound.

Does anyone know if this Jacobsen is any good when he's fit?
Agreed, I think that's exactly what we need. would love to get a quality DM in. We can't rely on Rodwell to do that job on a consistent basis, given his age, and I'm starting to have major doubts about Castillo's potential to make that position his.

A winger should also be top priority. Should give us other options to use.

I agree that we don't really need him and DM, as well as winger (left footed preferably) should be a priority.
But Mr Love is clearly a quality poacher, I just finished watching CSKA demolishing new russian champion Rubin Kazan 4-0, with Vagner Love scoring 3 goals. First one with a header, second one with a right foot chip, and third one with left foot shot beating opposition's keeper 1 on 1.

He's like much more skilled version of Andy Johnson, if we wouldn't have Saha or we would really be for selling Yak, then we should consider him (if we can somehow afford him). Since we have Saha and Yak is going nowhere, we need to concentrate on other areas.

Brazil international Vagner Love has revealed Everton lead the race to sign him - but he still wants to join Real Madrid.
Goodison boss David Moyes is an admirer of the CSKA Moscow striker, who is rated at £12million. And club officials have enquired about the 24-year-old, with strikers Yakubu and Louis Saha sidelined by long-term injuries.

Love has been the Russian league's top marksman this season with 17 goals in 25 games. He said: 'Just one club has contacted me and that club are Everton. But it would be marvellous to play for Real Madrid - every player dreams of joining them.

'I will do everything I can and more to negotiate my release with the CSKA president.'

However, Real have just signed Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and are unlikely to be looking for Love.

I've got a funny feeling we're gonna get him on loan or something. I reckon we'll get one huge loan/future transfer, even if you'd think the player's club wouldn't let him go.
