Yep, and the Nightlords Trilogy deals with some of the (not immediate) aftermath of the heresy from Nightlords perspective.

I'm not a big fan of the Siege of Terra books. Not Abnett's fault, but the sheer size of the heresy series left him with too many needless strands to tie up
Tbh it makes sense, the scale of the thing is insane to begin with. I've seen a few inconsistencies and holes (and missed many more no doubt) in the Eisenhorn books but honestly I give it a pass because it's great even with those. The size of the same few spehhs muhrines varies literally every time he mentions/sees any as well, and several times I think he realised after a few chapters that "Bettancore parked the cutter stealthily and remained unseen" means nothing without establishing the size of it... to only then clarify and it's, unsurprisingly, the size of a skyscraper lol

Yeah, I often have problems imagining the Primarchs and Space Marines fitting through normal sized doors. I really can't stand the bolter porn parts of the books or the Titan fights.

There's a Heresy author called Graham McNeil and he loves describing naked, oily Space Marines, it's like reading a weird Mills and Boon book

Warhammer has a reputation for being really sweaty, nerdy and it's demographic often seems populated by heavy set metal virgins. But the actual product, and the worlds/factions they have created are really well designed and interesting. I think the fact that you can potter away and get better at something quite intricate like painting and modifying what you've bought on a week night is good fun.

If they got some deodorant and a garden hose in there the shops would clean up nice, and I will not for one second consider that this hobby is in any way comparable in nonceiness to WRASSLIN because anyone who watches that needs their hard drive taking to the met

Who doesn't love some naked, oily 7-10ft tall men though, we can't really blame him lol

Tbh even if you don't play the game/paint the minis etc (more power to you if you do obvs) - the world itself is amazing.

As I said above - that's why I like Abnett's writing so far - it's more to expose the world and the societal flaws or oddities rather than the fights - in the entire Eisenhorn omnibus there's a total of 1 described fight and it's a terrorist attack and its follow up, to not go into spoilery details, so it makes sense. The rest of the fights are built up but end without much over-descriptive nonsense other than most of the aftermath.

This sounds like a man covering himself when this thread comes up in court as evidence.

I play in a lot of tournaments, and while there is certainly a decent contingent of nerds and metal fans, the vast majority of players are lads and dads who want to get away from their family for a few hours

Competitive and in with a chance of a win? Sounds like it beats something else a bit closer to home...
