Was it all that bad? Top 5 changes worth retaining from Roberto's years

The best thing he did was bring Lukaku, Geri and Barry in on loan in his first season. 3 types of player we were absolutely desperate for during Moyes's last couple of seasons. That's why we managed our greatest premier league points total.

After that he put his own mark on the team and we spiralled into mediocrity.

I dont know if it was his doing, but our becoming better at integrating with the fans seemed to coincide with his arrival? He was undoubtedly a people person and very good with the public! He certainly shouldnt be demonised?

he got everton, yes his final few months were confusing, but as soon as he came in he started bringing in coaches who it would have meant a lot too. Found that pretty great seeing as he had no attachment to everton in his life, beforehand.

Most of our good games against those clubs were in the first season.

After that we threw almost every game, 2-0 up at arsenal 2-2 etc .... that horrible chelsea decision to take our win away from us in the 98th minute..

We did hammer Chelsea though this season.

There are a few things about Martinez' three years which were undeniably good, don't you think?
Of course it was time for change, but here are my top 5 good ideas I hope we don't lose.

1) Fearlessness against top teams. Apart from against Liverpool, we conquered the fear of big teams, and had some really memorable wins against Chelsea, Man U and Arsenal in particular.

2) Martinez attracted some surprisingly good players to EFC, who seemed to come for him, the style and the idea of what we wanted to do. Even if they might not have worked out long term, think Eto'o, Lukaku, Barry, Geri

3) A playing culture throughout the system, from youth to the first teams, was apparently put into place, getting them playing in a particular way.

4) Promoting young players, most of the time. Although at the end it was a bit crazy when the excellent U21s were not getting selected ahead of injured or out of position seniors, having blind faith in Barkley, Stones & Lukaku must have given them confidence (and a bit of complacency too)

5) Loads of English & British players...we might have almost had 5 players in the England squad, and a good core set of other British lads

I like what he did with Unsy, Big Dunc and other blue-blooded players behind the scenes, and two semi finals is not bad! I hope that some of the good things Roberto did are not ripped up
Mate, this is the generation of 100% for or 100% against. There is no middle ground. By looking for 1 positive you have proven that you are a happy clapper.
Shame on you.

Best thing he did was get sacked.

He spunked serious money on utter crap players like Kone.

Arouna Kone STILL wears number 9 for my club.

Thats a crime, not just against football, but against humanity.

Scored more this season than this list that cost £131+mil:

Lallana £25 mil
Townsend £12 mil
Welbeck £16 mil
Hazard £32 mil
E. Valencia £12 mil
Naismith £8.5 mil
Bony £25 mil
Cisse £9.3 mil
Shaqiri £12 mil

That's just a few.
