"Watch Classic Matches Again"

Did you see the tackle Johnny Morressey does on their best striker just before half time, took him out waist high then held his stomach rolling around in agony gruesome not even booked!lol
My first hero Joey, had the kit as a five year old with number 11 on the back,"Rah,rah, rah, rah,Morrissey":)

Labby going off was the game changer + we tired as we had played in Greece to the pig of a side Panathinaikos - HC took ill on that day too, Joe Royle reckoned Shankly met them asking about HC and used his psychology over the midweek game in Greece etc to put the team on a downer we started off the better team, but faded badly some bad tackles by them as well I notice even then they surrounded the ref on decisions no change there then!

Won't work for me which is probably a good thing!! Most heartbreaking week imaginable. Still can't believe how they succumbed but they really missed Labone in second half and ran out of steam. Should have made first half count a bit more too. Spoke with Colin Harvey about it years later. He felt we had not tried to sit on lead, just felt the RS got the upper hand and raised their game in the second half. School on the Monday.....omg, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger I suppose!!

There's a shot of Sandy replacing Labby who's being taken off with WilF Dixon allez,I think its fair to say our trophy winning hopes disintegrated in that moment for another thirteen years(n):(

What the clip doesn't show is the Everton half of Old Trafford, to a man and woman singing, 'Shankly, Shankly what's our name, Shankly what's our name'. My dad swore blind that Shankly left the dug-out in such a rage, that he must torn a strip off them and that is why they upped their game in the second half. The worse thing about it was, we all travelled together to Manchester and had to suffer on the train home never mind work on Monday.

I love this thread. Well remembered hullefc mate, there was unadulterated joy at half time, never saw defeat coming at all at that point. Just a few minutes into the second half and it was like a knife through the heart. You just knew instantly was was going to be a game of two halves! Had traveled in car with blues only so we consoled each other but I made a holy show of myself by crying all the way home. I had been threatened with being banned from school sports if I went to the match by the head of PE because it meant missing a school team game. First year secondary by the way, nothing fixture but for whatever reason he wanted to make an example of me. Had to go to see him on the Monday and face the RS majority. Got well and truly bashed up! Got my own back when they lost to Arsenal and got bashed up again!!!!

After every cup final we would go on the backfield and relive the goals. Even at 16, us blues loved doing the 'Charlie' when we scored and getting mobbed by the other blues. Small consolation for the semi final defeat but sweet all the same.
