"Watch Classic Matches Again"

Found this video. The interesting piece for me is it's the first recent footage of an Everton match where the camera was positioned in the Main Stand as opposed to it's usual position in the Bullens Road Stand.

Quite a bit of the video footage being unearthed from that era comes I think from the club's own footage rather than official sports TV outlets that were on the Bullens Rd side. But it was often on regional TV news so not sure. Not sure that one is the first because there is definitely footage from 1984-85 season e.g. Spurs beating us 4-1 on the opening day where Inchy's penalty was filmed from the main stand. Check out 84/85 season highlights and there may be a few in there iirc.

I think the tv broadcasters switched to the Bullens Road after the completion of the main stand in 1971. Almost all of the tv material from Goodison up to then including the 1966 World Cup was filmed from the old main stand.

As AB says there's quite a bit of internal footage shot from the Main Stand well into the 80's.

In the period when broadcasters avoided football grounds (the first few months of the 85-86 season) they missed some absolutely brilliant matches at Goodison. The only one from that time that I've seen is, of course, our defeat against the Viet Cong when Dalglish or McMahon scored after about 25 seconds. But I hope that the club had the Main Stand camera in action because I would love to see some of those matches again. The manic 4-3 against QPR, doing Manure 3-1, Lineker's first hat-trick against Birmingham City are just some of them.
