Watches

Thanks for the clarification. I remember when this came out and it seemed like a really interesting complication for CW to focus on given they are still relatively new to the industry. I now understand the phrase "Sonnerie au passage" that @Chris Martin pointed out to me.
They’ve had a jump hour for some time, so changing it up to strike a gong instead of jumping an hour disc is good thinking - the mechanics of it aren’t too different.

Not particularly useful at all, but I’m enjoying it.

Went to my local watch guy last month to get a pressie for the missus, and asked about the Aquaracer because I wanted to buy it for myself as a birthday pressie. Told me it’d sold, so I picked up the Monaco instead. Turns out the Aquaracer was sold to my missus. Bonus day!!
Nice! All I get from my missus is grief.

I agree, the only quartz movements that are actually worth some $$ to produce that I've seen are the quartz movements in Grand Seiko, which are a work of art (if you haven't seen the video below, it's worth a view). I doubt Casio spends a lot of money on their movements in G-shocks as the watch is mostly about the casing/protection.

I wish I'd sold my GMT II at peak pandemic prices. The GMT at the end of that video, a Tudor BB pepsi and a decent wedge of cash left over...

So I bought a seiko prospex around this time last year and felt it just never kept good time was needing to be fixed everyday. I sent to the company that does seiko repairs and got it back today. I've no idea what I'm looking at here.
