Watches

I think dive watches are pretty much redundant in the diving world (scuba at least) since the advent of the dive computer. That said, I've done plenty recreational dives and I have to say, there's not many who don't wear one!
15m limit on them though isn’t there? (Least there was last time I did one!)
Principles the same though, ‘professional’ dive watches being a little over engineered for those depths!
That said, I do wonder whether serious / professional scuba divers wear them as a back up if they have them.

Not really, recreational dives can be be whatever they need to be, techy diving in caves and wrecks is still recreational. If you have accreditation then you may be "qualified" to a certain depth, but some of these things saren't worth a carrot and not many dive schools take much notice of them. Always best to know you own limits like, I get narc'd when I whenever I get to 28ish metres.

No reason not to...NASA use redundancy at pretty much every level as it's not a case of if you die if something goes wrong but you will. Humans aren't made for the ocean just as much as space...no room for ignorance, bravado or assumption.

My bad, was a while back I did any ‘recreational dives’ and am confusing some of the terminology.
I’ve never done a PADI course, but they put some limits on how deep we could go, which on review must have been the 18m ‘open water’ limit I guess.

Anyway, I got the blue one after doing a PADI. I prefer the turtle though.

This is a great deal on a nice quartz watch from Casio:
