Watches

Kurt, don’t want to burst your bubble but it’s almost impossible to find a watch for less than £1000 that would be an investment watch. Reckon you would have to travel the antique markets and hope to get lucky. I have a mate, used to be a collector, who reckoned anything less than $10k and you might as well buy that Casio you always liked... he was a watch snob of note.

If you have no interest in the watch I reckon there would be a lot more growth in pure equity shares or some other investments that would deliver a better return.

Edit: I see you’ve been answered very well above. Seems the 10k bench is the standard minimum investment.
Not really accurate,a small company called Precista have launched a few watches over the years in limited edition runs that have doubled in price within a year or so. If you are really careful (really) and you could find an original Seiko 6105 they have climbed in price steadily. Buying vintage can be a risk but if you do your homework there are investments out there.

Not subscribed or anything but I enjoy this guy's vids...yup, I'm that boring.

I also watch (and have bought from) Crown and Caliber. Good stuff. I also love "talking watches" on Hodinkee: https://www.hodinkee.com/browse/talking-watches

I’m coming up on a service anniversary at work and am thinking of getting a nice watch. I’ve never spent more than $100. I like the look of some of the Longines watches. Do they have a good reputation? Also, I like the look of the Frederique Constant moonphase watches. Seems that we have a lot of informed folks here. Any insight would be appreciated.
