Never ever understood those that spend thousands on something that does a task your phone or even a sun dial can do.
If you buy a good watch it’ll earn more than putting it in the bank , certainly given the last few months more than shares or any ISA and it looks decent on your arm plus it’s something you choose. Property would be a better investment but in the vast majority of cases you aren’t going to buy a house for the same one off price , it can be a really decent investment and pretty much won’t lose you any money .
also and I suspect most importantly it’s their money to do with as they choose isn’t it
Yeh of course just not for me. Guy in my office got an £8k watch as an anniversary gift and my jaw hit the floor.
Exactly. My husband has a collection of watches. He's constantly on waiting lists and never tires of telling me how much he could sell his latest watch for.seriously though , especially if you know what you’re doing or buy quality second hand , a few years that’s held it’s price or maybe even earned a few bob . What else does that these days ?
I’ve got a couple , but keep it to just a couple, and will trade up or even across and I do alright . Never going to make a fortune but You’re enjoying your money and these days that’s rare .
I have the Omega 42” seamaster or something. Nice watch. Not Rolex prices but still a nice looking watch. I need to buy another as I have two boys and when I pop my clogs, I don’t want them arguing over it. My second one will be a Daytona tho. I love those watches.
I have had a submariner and a tag, both of which I got mugged for. I haven’t had much luck with watches but hey ho.
I bought myself a TAG about 7 odd years ago, it was for sale in standard shops for 2500 but got it for 1850 on interweb.
It is still beautiful and I love it but just remember if you buy an automatic the costs don't stop at purchase, the winder has given in so at somepoint i'm going to have to lash near £500 on a service, for a watch. Yes you read that right five hundred pounds. Gulp.
Picture for reference...

Was thinking of treating myself to a new watch, not sure if to go with a known name like Tag Longines or an up and coming brand like Christopher Ward. The likes of Rolex and Omega are out of my price range about £3000, was wondering is any of you watch enthusiast have other ideas.
I've had a Tissot for over 17 years, it's never let me down bar the odd battery change.Got a Tissot, more like P!ssot tho
