Watches

So had a chat to an acquaintance of mine here this weekend and found out he also has a watch interest. Turns out he got his hands on a new Rolex Daytona for $12k.. could sell the thing tomorrow for well over $20k. Turns out his sister has like 5 Rolexes and because of her relationship with the AD got this deal and offer... irony... the folks that can afford 5 Rolexes get the availability and the deals and the rest of us just wait and wait and end up having to pay way over the odds...

Not that I was looking at a Rolex to be fair, but think my festive present to myself is going to have to wait.. of course it brings me much greater joy that the rest of the families wish list be fully fulfilled!

Yeah, the new 2020 Daytona has made quite a splash, as has the sub (with new movement and other improvements) so they are in demand. Those who know an AD got lucky and were able to buy one. And they will have a good resale value; I just found one on my watch forum for 26k !! But eventually, that will go down a bit. I don't care for Daytonas as I really need watches that have a date window, it's something I use all the time! My favorite Rolex is the blue dial Yacht-Master that came out about 6 years ago.

Ah mate.. that yacht master is a stunner.. that align with the explorer 1 but that more for its simplicity

So after all the fawning over the Omega
I went to have a look in Johannesburg to see how they actually looked on my arm and how much they were here.
Well the result is that it would be cheaper to fly to the UK, buy one and fly back with a show or two thrown in and still have change. But wanted to get an automatic movement on my arm. Went for this little guy, the Seiko 5 on a nato strap. Great value for an automatic movement. Couple complications thrown in.

Think that Omega might have to wait a year or two now.

Ooh I have a similar Seiko on a leather strap at the minute, might try it on a nato now actually.

Hahaha I want to try it on all the straps! Love rubber as a rule.. but this nato is pretty cool.
My Seiko 5 and my G-shock are posted somewhere back in this thread, but I have a Seiko solar that looks a lot like yours and I have been wondering what to do with it. I best get checking out those natos!

Just bought an Omega Seamaster 300. An upgrade on a Tag heure aquaracer calibre 5. Price everywhere in the UK with the stainless steel strap is £4450.
I got it online from a jeweller in Hereford. I had a 20% discount code which worked so knocked about £899 off the cost. Free delivery too. Got a nice wooden box to store it in. When you think about an Omega or any watch let me know and I'll give you the discount code. The jeweller was Pleasance and Harper in Hereford.
Ps. It was next day delivery in the UK.
Not sure if they deliver abroad. It may say on their website
