Watches

When I was younger I would buy these very reasonably priced watches called "Fossil watches". They were always priced very low and they're made pretty well. They last forever! Keep in mind these are not super fancy watches but they're still nice.

Yeah, fair point, but I do like those fixed strap bars and I tend to like NATOs, but you'd defo lose the versatility of switching between bracelet, leather, and other straps.

It's great for durability/security so if it was a milspec, service issue only version then I'd fully get it...it may well be, I didn't read the article.

* Had a look at it...can't fault the choice of colour. ;) *

I wore a fossil from my first decent watch all the way through for about 20 years when I at last bought a Tag.. good looking watches.. tell them time. I’ve still got my last one in the draw

Love this article as it just celebrates watches for watches sake, which is what I love about them. Cost, prestige, movement doesn't need to matter, and it doesn't to most...they can be admired and fun no matter the price:

When I was like 17 my (ephemeral, as they are back then) girlfriend gave me a fossil watch. It was a really really nice gift. And it was a well designed, well-conceived watch and had a moon-phase display, which I didn't know existed at the time. I had already been smitten with watches since I was a kid, but her way-over-the-top gift (at the time, like $30-40 USD in 1987 for a teenager) was very appreciated. They always hold a place in my heart.

Agreed, a watch is what speaks to you and some cheaper designs are just as good as the expensive ones.
