Watches

Quite like these new Titanium Dive watches by Sinn. I've always liked this brand but never owned one. They seem to have a great reputation.

Anyone used this discovery Japan mall for a discount timepiece?

I like the look of some G Shocks they have but I'm unsure on shipping / import taxes

Me and also @Gwladys St. Glory use Seiya Japan, which seems to be similar to Japan Mall. If you're worried about import taxes, there is a G-shock boutique in London (Soho) that can probably special order for you.

Never owned an automatic but would love to own a Tudor Black Bay or a Grand Seiko Spring Drive. Both have some really smart looking watches. Keep saving! Maybe one day!

CW -I have a C4 Peregrine from 2008 when they were first starting out. Currently inoperable- needs the crown pin reseating which I couldn’t justify the cost for the repair quote CW came back with. Good watches for the pennies though.

Currently everyday watch - full 80’s retro with a digital Casio A159WA. Love it- can still stop the stop watch on 10.00s

Hi, looking at buying a Hamilton watch in the next couple of weeks. Have it down to either Khaki Navy Skuba ( white face) or Murph.
Wondering if any of you have any views on either watch. Thanks..

So seiko Alpinist has really caught my eye of late and came across this one.

I know this line has been discontinued and seems like a decent price. Any red flags to you guys who know what youre looking at?.

Generally, they are regarded as decent reliable watches that use Seiko's own mechanical movement. I don't know much about that particular model, but I'm a fan of Seiko overall. @Gwladys St. Glory probably knows more than I. The green dial is quite nice. The questions I would ask the seller are: 1) Is the watch running reliably and keep good time? 2) Any noticeable dings/scratches on the case, bezel, or crystal?, 3) Any issues with the inner rotating bezel...does it turn smoothly?

The SARB17 is a modern classic but, due to being discontinued (and, like the SKX007's) is being price gouged because of this...his asking price is roughly double what MSRP was before it was put to pasture. There is a modern variant, the SBDC091/SPB121; the main difference being it has a cyclops over the date, which is a love/hate thing for people. I wouldn't touch modern classics over the internet, unless it's something an AD somehow got their hands on. Caveat emptor, in these situations.

Of the new ones, I like SBDC137/SPB309 or see if you can find the 'Rock Face', Europe only edition SPB355J1, but only 3k were made (that one's going to be a tough find methinks).

Has it arrived yet? Are you happy?!
So this was waiting for me when I got back from the match. First impressions is that it's smaller than I thought. I've seen comments that it's big and was worried it was going to be massive. Maybe it's because I was wearing a Samsung Galaxy S3 Frontier and it's fairly chunky. I like it but I think the weight is a little off putting. I realise it's titanium and its supposed to be light but it feels strange. I bought a black/titanium hybrid strap too which is nice.

Still got all its condoms on (attack of the plastic, FFS). White dial? Yes, please.

SBDC171 (gimme dat JDM), the updated take on one of their classic divers, the '68 model 6105. Just need to remove all the protective film and size the band now.

"ANOTHER Seiko!?", I hear you say...yes, for same reason I'm a Toyota guy.

So, prior to this purchase I'd read a decent amount of stuff about people having fits with the 6R series of Seiko movements. Trust your instincts...Seiko make an astronomical number of 6R movements. If they were genuinely as bad as the internet can make things seem, they'd have a crisis on their hands. I'd throw up a WatchCheck screen shot but, looking at the numbers, I think I might have mucked it up halfway by hacking and re-setting the time at some point in a fit of watch tinkering. But, overall, I'll just say that I hope my lucky streak continues and it's going force me to stick to JDM models (first 2 months was +3 to +5, then settled into 0.5 if you count all checks but I'm doubting myself).

Oh, feck it, here's the SS: Didn't check in nearly as much as I usually do but that was, and still is, pretty much 24/7 on wrist since purchase. But again. I don't know if I did something between Nov 24th and Jan 13th...likely, since it was a new purchase but, even if...she's-a purrin'.
