Just to say whilst I back our owners statement over this mornings news, I don't believe Everton did anything wrong. You saw something you wanted and you went after it. Seems we won the battle then...but you may end up winning the war. I so wanted Silva to knuckle down once you appointed BFS but our statement this morning says that he did the exact opposite and effectively owned tools. He may well end up at yours in the summer, or before. But you should let those words ring in your ears because its likely he will do the same further down the line.

He carries no favour with any of us anymore. Not because he wanted to join you - I understood that to a point. Bigger club, more money etc etc. But his attitude since has burnt any bridge left to him.

You may well get your other wish too now I suspect as the fans will want Z-Cars gone too.

The bullish amongst you will no doubt crow about this mornings news, thats to be expected from football fans. The rest of you should be wary about Silva IMO.

Good luck for the rest of the season and see you all for a fiery game at the end of February!

Fonseca is the one we need

Not a shot at you in anyway but can you or someone else tell me what the facination with Fonseca is? in my memory he wasn't mentioned in the manager search till near the end and then folks were wetting them selves over him. What gives?

I was in the Sam camp, hand up there but it has been appaling of late and I am currently in the anyone but Silva camp (didn't want him before, still don't now).

Silva is a bell.

But what can you expect when the Watford owners pride themselves on purposely setting up for managerial departures. The backroom staff are never changed and the manager is just another cog.

When you set up like that you can't really expect any loyalty. At the same time though wanting to jump ship after 9 games was a bit strange.

Why?

He was at a club that fired him after a poor 10 game run. He knew they wouldn't think twice if it suited them.

The only thing that matters is if he is a good coach. Big Sam and Walsh aren't the answer and will need to be replaced. We don't need to pay compensation for Silva. Making the change now is actually the cheaper option.

My worry is Silva comes in and gets us scoring but then our weak defence gets obliterated.

Seems to me only Silva to blame. Plus of course Watford have form in sacking managers so they're just looking for a scapegoat.

Of course none of this should preclude us approaching Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea, City and United next time we are looking for a manager with a view to unsettling others.

Watford Blame Everton

Watford have sacked manager Marco Silva, blaming Everton's approach in November as the "catalyst for this decision".

Hornets chiefs, who have seen seven bosses come and go in five years before Silva was appointed in May 2017, blame their latest sacking on Everton.

A Watford statement said they were "convinced the appointment of Silva" last summer "was the right one".

And, without "the unwarranted approach" they would have "continued to prosper under his leadership".

The statement added: "This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly.

"The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford has been jeopardised."

Only we can manage to make a team other than ourselves rubbish as well.

I can't disagree with them tbh

They should have sold. It did ruin their season but we have a right to go for the man we want just the same as Utd had the right to go for Lukaku.

Ultimately they dug their heels in and this was the result.
