Lampard's Chelsea team were excellent in his 1 season of actual real football, with a transfer ban, after Hazard was sold. His defensive record was fine that season as well. If people want to judge him on a season of fake behind doors football, and because he isn't Thomas Tuchel, then fine. But I find that pretty irrational to be honest, because someone of the calibre of Tuchel is not coming near our mess of a club.

Im merely stating the opinion of Chelsea fans....cant setup a defence.

They were good in the first half of his first season and average in the 2nd half. Then very poor in his second season.

What are we? Ex-blues charity?
What makes him good enough a manager to get the job? Nothing.
Let's move away from this jobs for the boys mentally...that includes Duncan...and get someone based on ability as a manager.

Rangers took a chance on Gerrard and that worked out well for them; and for him withhis move to Villa.

We're in no better position then Rangers were, why not take that chance?

One of my concerns would be that he still seems to be quite fond of getting bevvied, smoking ciggies, and ending up with some rough old brass. In this day and age, you'd think that would preclude him, but I think 'drinking cultures' have historically done quite well at Everton. Kendall certainly didn't mind the players having a few drinks, I think Royle didn't mind too much either. The last two managers to win trophies for us.

He'd definitely see us as a stepping stone to the Utd job but he'd have to do a good job with us to get it. Not saying I want him like.

It's a big no from me, would prefer Lampard but who ever it is let him chose his own backroom staff not be lumbered with Boys Pen Billy's blue gang.

Well if he wants to manage United then he'd need to do an outstanding job here. Not sure why people think the stepping stone argument is always a negative.

Our problem is that we bring in overpaid players with zero incentive to better themselves. Maybe if we brought in young players with aspirations higher than Everton, then we'd see hunger on the pitch. Striving for better is a good thing in all areas of employment.

From what he’s written and what I’ve heard of his thinking and tactics he comes across as a young , intelligent manager. Very , very few managers make it without being sacked at least once , usually when they are young and inexperienced. Let him develop elsewhere for a few more years , he’s not ready yet , one day he will be . Then the question will be are we ready for him, at the moment we’ve managed to go through a whole series of experienced managers without any notable change.

Marvellous.

Give Rooney credit, he’s done amazing at Derby, but it’s always worth remembering that he can’t possibly fail at Derby.

Huge points deduction, means no pressure and all they’re effectively doing is playing for pride.

Everton where we’re fighting to stay alive? Well… what could go right?

Agree...yet some people still think he should get the gig.
If he did well you know where he'd be off to next? History repeating itself!
