Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Do people really still begrudge Rooney for making the move? He's won everything he can possibly win with United, and has become their all time top scorer.

We were never going to keep hold of him. We even sold Arteta to balance the books, who can only dream of being a player as good as Rooney is/was. I'm sure the board didn't have any problem with the £30m the club received, we needed those funds.

He's still got a huge amount to offer and just because he can't get into an attack assembled with £200m at United doesn't mean he isn't good enough for us. He would walk into the Arsenal/City/Liverpool sides, and would put us on the map again.

We're in need of a new captain with Jags on his way out, and since he's captained both United and England I'd say he'd be perfect for the job.

To say that one of the best known players in world football shouldn't be joining us is crazy talk. It's the kind of player that could convince Lukaku to stay.

Welcome home Rooney. You've won everything there is to win, now do it with us.

Oh that's it! I am banning myself from this thread before I do myself some damage.

You are all mad.

Captain!

His age is/was irrelevent. Would you have left us as a teenager without doing anything with the club?

Its no grudge, if he stays away I would not be remotely bothered. I get why he left. I resent the whole coming back part and some of us acting like its great and we are getting a world class player.

On the pitch I will back him if he is an Everton player but I wont pretend to like him and he can bugger off claiming he is an Evertonian. He isn't.

If Everton were desperate to sell me and needed me to go then yes I'd leave the club.

He's done more to help this club financially than most who sit in goodison including the chairman.

One has made the club around £30m and the other has probably made about £50m out of the club. It's mad that some see Kenwright as some revered evertonian and Rooney as a Judas

That was a bit of bait in all honesty but I would be surprised if he wasn't considered after he joins.

Who would you have as captain instead? Rooney has more credentials than anyone else in our club for the role, and whatever you think about him he's as big an Evertonian as any of us.

The fact he joined what has been the most successful club in the country and earned a huge amount in the process doesn't change that IMO.

Yup I reckon you are right.

That's exactly what insular is, you've constantly been dismissing other people's points throughout this thread and can only see it from an irrational grudge bearing point of view.

Oh rubbish.

You may not agree with what I am saying but I have been giving reasons for my opinion both from the grudge bearing side (and why on earth shouldn't I bear a grudge??) and from the more realistic and reasoned footballing side.

To clarify, I think he is finished as a footballer, I don't know where he will be playing in the team and I think his market value plummets massively when he is not a Man Utd player. What is so wrong about that?

He isn't an Evertonian though! He obviously was once. I do not see any way as to how he improves us. A younger version yeah of course, but not now. he is no different from a Rademel Falcao or a Fernando Torres, great players back in their day but I wouldn't want them now.

If he stayed where he was or moved elsewhere then no I don't have a grudge, if he comes back then yes I do. he moved for his career, fine, he now wants to come back once his career is over and he has done everything he wanted to do. Brilliant. lets put a massive banner up of him on the side of the main stand for our massive evertonian overlord. In fact sod it, lets name the new stadium after him. He deserves it after him deeming us worthy of his abilities for a season or two after his proper career has finished.

Torres looked finished @ Chelsea & Mila, goes back to his boyhood club ( one of the best teams in eruope ) and rediscovered some some sort of form, falcao is back to a very high level again this season,

rooney is 31, and has RECENTLY broke England and united all time goal scoring records, he is far from finished, his career is far from over, you hold a grudge to him for coming back but not for going? lost me here

Well as I have said already I disagree massively with the Evertonian thing. It changes it massively to me, as do his antics afterwards. Doesn't matter if people agree with me or not, that is just how I feel.

Coleman probably, captain of his nation, loves it here and has a genuine affinity with the club. To be honest i don't think the captain role is as big or as important as people make out but it's a status thing more than anything.

It's irrelevant, as is the rest of your post because Wayne Rooney, in the year of our lord 2017, is absolutely trousers at soccer.

I thought you were banning yourself.

"We should get Rooney back!"
"Nah, he's finished. He can't run anymore, and he's scored 1 goal from open play in about 40 games."
"Oh so you begrudge him leaving do yer lad?!"
"No, i'm just saying he..."
"HE HAD TO LEAVE US LAD."
"Yeah I know, but..."
"HE SAVED THE CLUB! AND HES THE BIGGEST BLUENOSE AND HES COMING BACK TO SAVE US"
"But he isn't very good at football anymore, I don't think..."
"GET OVER IT LAD, HE HAD TO GO TO WIN TROPHIES!!!"

He's more of an Evertonian than you or me.

That's the bottom line.

Remember when the MU rejects we got we're Neville and Saha. We must be going places if they're now Schneiderlin and Rooney...

Hahaha

Speak for yourself, chief.

But aside from that, i'm not against him on "WHOS DA BIGGEST BLUE" reasons. That'd be silly. I'm against him signing because it would be a ridiculous waste of resources on a player who is finished at this level.
