If Rooney signs for us this summer he should be treated with caution quite rightly.....until he scores. Frankly after that we can all loose our minds and chant. Anyone with any doubt that he could improve us is mad.

Martin Keown claims an 'angry' Rooney can achieve more

Rooney has endured a difficult season at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho, scoring just five goals across all competitions.

His campaign sunk to a new low last Sunday, where he was left on the bench during the club’s 3-2 EFL Cup final win over Southampton.

The 31-year-old looks set to leave the club in the summer with Everton and clubs from China and America keen to snap him up.

Wayne Rooney has struggled under Jose Mourinho this season

And The Sun claim United are willing to pay off the rest of his contract and let him go for free.

Rooney is under contract until 2019 and is currently pocketing £250,000 a week at Old Trafford.

And United are so desperate to get him off their books they are willing to make him a free agent.

The Red Devils will also not insert any clauses to prevent him joining a Premier League rival.

Manchester United are confident of signing Antoine Griezmann this summer
United are confident of signing Antoine Griezmann this summer and his arrival would further restrict Rooney’s game time.

Jose Mourinho is said to have told the England international he is welcome to stay but cannot offer him first-term assurances.

Reports earlier this week claimed Rooney would consider a return to Everton and has told friends of his desire to leave the club at the end of the season.

Thing is he could have a few years ahead of him, dont forget he is 4 years yonger then Zlatan and we wont expect 90 minutes from him week in week out, we could possibly get at least 2 seasons from him, which can only be a good thing
