Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Looking forward would be the entire reason we may/will sign him mate, outside the UK it would be an absolutely huge signing and will shock lots of people, the manager, director of footy both seem to want him, and various players have talked about how much they rate him, least of all lukaku

If Rooney did sign, the calibre of player we can retain or sign would increase, that's almost a guarantee. So for building a better team it ticks a lot of boxes.

You have a higher opinion of him than I do. I'm not sure he is the type of player younger skilful players want to play with anymore. You do make a good point about the manager wanting him and that is very important.
One word of caution, we have bought some outstandingly mediocre players recently.

Developing into a good team though, which is the most important thing.

As much as I don't like or forgive him as an Evertonian. That's the only reason I have for not wanting him here. He'd have to win things with us and give us some great moments for me to forgive him. But people giving footballng reasons to why he shouldn't come are wrong. My brain tells me it's a good move for many footballing/comercial reasons. My principles don't.

Next time he starts in the PL for United, if he ever does again, watch the entire game. He is done at this level.

If there is any chance of him joining for free and on £150k pw on a 2 year deal then that would be brilliant business.

He'd probably get £1m a week if he went to China.

Commercially too, we'd probably make all of it back from him being at the club. Sponsors would be lining up for one of the most marketable footballers on the world.

I just don't think he is motivated at United at all. A big part of Rooneys game is fire and desire and it's not there at United anymore.

*WAS*

No amount of fire and desire can reverse the ageing process. He's been playing at full throttle in the most demanding league in the world since he was 16 years old, and he just can't do it anymore.

There is a reason United are so desperate to get rid of him and not negotiate a smaller contract. No other club in the top 6 would want him, and if we have aspirations of joining that gang, neither should we.

Hope he goes to America.

It has probably been put forward a few times in this thread already but Even at 30, is rooney a better option than Kone, Niasse, Valencia? This is our track record in strikers as back ups, can anyone who doesn't want Rooney back for footballing reasons say the above are better options? We can always go and sign another striker but who is to say they do not end up being as good as what we already have only? Especially as we have pulled out of 2 deals for strikers in two windows so far and failed with a third one so we signed Valencia instead.

Neither of those will be here next season so it's a moot point.

My answer would be..someone else. Other players do exist.
Ok maybe so, but whoever we bring in will have to accept being second fiddle to Lukaku. What player will accept potentially limited chances to play and is an improvement on what Rooney can offer?

where's all the talk of a free transfer come from?

if it's true I'll personally piggy back him ( 2 yards ) back here myself.

Next season we will ( hopefully have )

Europa League
League Cup
FA Cup
Premier League

a lot of games, lots of chances for someone like Rooney to make an impact. Do I think Rooney is finished at Utd? yep I think he's been finished for 2 years there, they've moved him all over the shop and they've done that ever since he was there. Do I think he's finished as a top level player? Nope, if he comes back watch the fire in his belly be reignited and I think we would get a cracking 18/24 month period from him.
