Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

where's all the talk of a free transfer come from?

if it's true I'll personally piggy back him ( 2 yards ) back here myself.

Next season we will ( hopefully have )

Europa League
League Cup
FA Cup
Premier League

a lot of games, lots of chances for someone like Rooney to make an impact. Do I think Rooney is finished at Utd? yep I think he's been finished for 2 years there, they've moved him all over the shop and they've done that ever since he was there. Do I think he's finished as a top level player? Nope, if he comes back watch the fire in his belly be reignited and I think we would get a cracking 18/24 month period from him.

Was thinking that myself, Rooney's contract doesn't end till Summer 2019.

Ok maybe so, but whoever we bring in will have to accept being second fiddle to Lukaku. What player will accept potentially limited chances to play and is an improvement on what Rooney can offer?

A young up and coming player looking at taking a shot at "the best league in the world".

Rooney, if he does come, will not be coming to play second fiddle to anybody.

I suppose the main thing is what you think he can offer.

Would be plenty of takers out there I would imagine mate for £10/15m.

I'd definitely think so mate, no shortage imo. I'm not advocating us paying it but the last few pages seem to be suggesting he would be on a free yet folk still turning their noses up at him.

imo he would still be an unbelievable option for us and for whatever reason if it was on a free it's a no brainer surely.

He holds all the power really.

He is on something daft like 300k a week for 4 more years. So United would maybe let him go for nothing to save spending all that.

Problem is for him to move on it would have to be for a wage that he agrees on. He may take a cut to join us, say 100k a week, I doubt he will be taking that big a cut to join anyone else though and who can blame him?

His stupid contract has basically backed United into a corner, they either get rid and recoup some of the money back or keep him around on ridiculous money. Wouldn't shock me if they ended up paying us a bit of his wages too as paying 50k a week to us is better than paying 300k a week to Rooney if they deem him not worthy of the first team.

Someone posted the article a few pages back.. but it is on the BBC website as well... United want to pay up his contract to get him off the books as they are super confident of getting greizman in the summer. ... but I think the stipulation is that he is a free agent only if he moves to another English club... so all the signs are he is coming back...

Problem is though mate Rooney would still be entitled to what he would be owed on the remainder of his contract.

I have a policy in business 'Never go back' and football is a business.
I'd rather have Beckham than Rooney right now.

I would have Schweinstiger ahead of Rooney if we are in the market for a finished former great player from Manchester United.

Ignoring the fact that we are covered in his position mind....
