Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

He's not going to turn into the 2009 version of himself if he signs for us. He's looked finished for at least a year.

Well done agent Wayne, keep playing crap so 1) we have a possibility of finishing above utd and 2) helps Jose to just get shot of you on a free.

When he turns up at Goodison after his 3 year holiday he has taken while at Old Trafford he will look like the 2004 vintage...ok ok maybe a bit slower.

His profile by signing would put the club in a position where it might be possible to being in players who would have no intention of joining us otherwise. His ability is still good enough for us for a year or 2. Maybe not as a defo starter but a great option for cups and europa. Lukaku needs back up and the option to being on rooney for a europa cup match would be ideal. It doesnt mean others would lose out. Get rid of kone valentia and a thin squad would be boosted by signing rooney.

That's my thinking with us wanting Rooney. Obviously Koeman is keen on Rooney the player but his reputation in the game is still big regardless of recent form and I think that comes into the thinking when being interested in him also! To sign someone of the rep of a Rooney would be a big thing for us and a signal of intent. It would make people in footballing circles take note. Make Europe, and a signing like Rooney, would make other top players take notice of us and maybe attract them to us, and it would also make the likes of Lukaku think yeah, we mean business here and I fancy being part of it and help to get him to extend his deal IF he saw us making that kind of progression.

We all know he's gone stale at United and struggled for form in the past few years but Man Utd have been in transition, he's been used in every position possible and not had a settled one and his form as suffered along with the team and some other Utd players aswell. I think in last few years there's only been Mata that's done well consistently and this season Ibrahimovic. Martial came in and has been hot and cold, Mkhitaryan started slowly, Di Maria is a class player and he struggled at Utd and they got rid, Falcao another that struggled yet he's doing well again in France and Europe and Rooneyas suffered also.

But we're the only move right now for Rooney that would give him his mojo back imo. He still loves the club regardless of what's gone on in the past and I think he'd relish a move to us to try and help project us and help us try and achieve things. But IF we're seriously interested in taking Rooney, it won't be purely for footballing reasons, it'll be for commercial & marketing, the reputation and signal of intent it will show within football. Some of us fans won't and don't see it that way but amongst other club managers and players etc it will make waves.

He's useless and finished. Makes a mockery of the slight progress we have made under koeman by engaging the youngsters and playing them.

Where would this baldy tit even play?

Really not sure about this. Though we could do with another striker Lookman looks like he will be the real deal with a bit more experience, and I'd hate a player on his way out to restrict Ademolas development.

Also, at the risk of coming over a bit Gordon Lee, I'm not too keen on a "star" type player attracting the wrong sort of media attention.

If Koemann buys him he'll better stay and handle that side of things and not go to bloody Barcelona...
