He's better than Rooney currently is and suits the way we'd be playing more. But yeah, hyperbole to say he's awful.

If either Rooney or Martial were our big summer signing I'd be gutted. I'd love either as a squad player though and the reality is we've only got a chance of one of them in that role.

Disagree to both to be honest mate, we are crying out for a number 10 and he'd fit the bill.

He cant play number 10 though!

He got moved to number 10 because he couldn't get a role as striker at Man Utd or England and then continued to be massively average in that role before getting dropped from there too.

He may be an answer as a back up striker, not having the whole number 10 thing though.

Rather Martial than Rooney if given the choice

2 year contract, 1 year playing while the nippers watch & learn, 2nd year taking a back seat while bedding the nippers into the first team. Such an intelligent player and can still shift when he needs to.

Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of players I'd prefer but in the 2nd striker or number 10 role but as far as transfer fees, I'd say Rooney is more in our price bracket.

His profile by signing would put the club in a position where it might be possible to being in players who would have no intention of joining us otherwise. His ability is still good enough for us for a year or 2. Maybe not as a defo starter but a great option for cups and europa. Lukaku needs back up and the option to being on rooney for a europa cup match would be ideal. It doesnt mean others would lose out. Get rid of kone valentia and a thin squad would be boosted by signing rooney.

We needed rid as much as he wanted to go. We all know this.
