Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Starting to look real this now, suppose we'll just have to get on-board with it and hope for something good.

Still maintain I'd rather throw £20-30m on someone like Sigurdsson, players who'd hopefully he here for 5-10 years and win us trophies. Rooney would be a signing made for emotional reasons, he would not walk into our starting XI and make it significantly better and you could say the same about another side in the top 7.

Massive yes, please. Free transfer and 150k wages is absolutely ok for me.

Rooney needs 124 minutes to record a goal or an assist this season. Other attacking players in top teams needs this number of minutes:
Gabriel Jesus 59, Giroud 69, Lucas Perez 74, Sanchez 77, Iheanacho 84, Kane 87, Lukaku 91, Pedro 92, Aguero 96, Ibrahimovic 99, Fabregas 102, Son 103, Lamela 105, Sterling 107, Costa 113, Walcott 113, Mane 119, Nolito 120, Eriksen 121, Alli 122, Coutinho 135, Martial 137, Mkhitaryan 137, Ozil 142, Willian 148, Hazard 151, Mata 151, Sane 155, Firmino 156, De Bruyne 158, Oxlade-Chamberlain 158, Cazorla 171, Mirallas 192, Iwobi 198, Barkley 203, Rashford 207, David Silva 213, Toure 220, Bolasie 233, Pogba 293, Navas 296.

So I think Rooney is doing quite well.

Still only 31 years old and he would be here with a motivation to win something for this club. A winner. Perfect type of signing to make early in the summer. Statement signing. Would be a great start of a big summer show we really need to keep both Lukaku and Barkley.

I'm not sure what the argument is. He has 2 goals in 18 games.

Am I to believe that Rooney is better than Coutinho, Mkhitaryan, Ozil, Willian, Hazard, Mata, Sane, Firmino, De Bruyne, David Silva?

Each of these players is better than Rooney and has more goals this season. He scored 8 goals last Premier League season. 11 goals in 35 games if we include each domestic competition. This season he has 3 goals in 24 domestic games.

Apart from maybe two season in his career, Rooney has been a steady scorer, rather than a great one. His last great season was 5 seasons ago.

If Lukaku and Kane could be around for same amount as Rooney, they would beat his record quite easily.

This has been said to death, but deep down I'm sure it would mean more to Rooney to win a trophy with us than with Utd. It's just a pity ability and fitness wise, he's probably physically not up to the task anymore.

I wonder if a move will revitalise him - look at Cleverley, Niasse, Deulofeu etc. who were turbo gash (Or in Geri's case just a bit lazy) for us but are performing very well at their new clubs. Same with Valencia and Gueye with us. Funny how a a new environment can suddenly make a player thought to be toilet, start playing well.

If it's a free transfer, happy days, brings alot of knowhow and most importantly a winning mentality to the dressing room and isn't a bad option to have in the squad. But I am worried about his obscene wages. I'm sure we'll be making a fair few high-profile signings this summer to propel us into the top 4 who will demand decent wedge themselves, and Rooney's wages might eat up quite a bit of the losses that FFP allows us, unless our income in proportion to our total wage bill is actually much higher than originally thought.

It is based on Goals+Assists in all competitive games in both England and Europe. And I think Rooney is better than Coutinho.
