Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

The experience will indeed be invaluable for them.

"hey lads, bugger off to a big club, these idiots will take you back when you are an old has been even after you crap all over them once you leave".

Cant wait to see a 2 stone overweight, balding, normal sock lengthed (its better for marketing purposes) Tom Davies waddle back to the new Bramley Moore Supermegadome after spending the majority of his career at one of the big boys.

This quality left thing though. I am intrigued..what are you (or indeed anyone else) basing it off? Have you not watched him for the past couple of seasons?

You may be right Papa .....But you do realise that unless he comes back .......there will always be that " What if ?"

Massive yes, please. Free transfer and 150k wages is absolutely ok for me.

Rooney needs 124 minutes to record a goal or an assist this season. Other attacking players in top teams needs this number of minutes:
Gabriel Jesus 59, Giroud 69, Lucas Perez 74, Sanchez 77, Iheanacho 84, Kane 87, Lukaku 91, Pedro 92, Aguero 96, Ibrahimovic 99, Fabregas 102, Son 103, Lamela 105, Sterling 107, Costa 113, Walcott 113, Mane 119, Nolito 120, Eriksen 121, Alli 122, Coutinho 135, Martial 137, Mkhitaryan 137, Ozil 142, Willian 148, Hazard 151, Mata 151, Sane 155, Firmino 156, De Bruyne 158, Oxlade-Chamberlain 158, Cazorla 171, Mirallas 192, Iwobi 198, Barkley 203, Rashford 207, David Silva 213, Toure 220, Bolasie 233, Pogba 293, Navas 296.

So I think Rooney is doing quite well.

Still only 31 years old and he would be here with a motivation to win something for this club. A winner. Perfect type of signing to make early in the summer. Statement signing. Would be a great start of a big summer show we really need to keep both Lukaku and Barkley.

If that Telegraph report is true, then £150k a week on a free would be an ok deal, got to be honest though I never really took to Rooney when he came through due to the fact I was in the year above him at De La Salle, which was bordering on unbearable hearing teachers bang on about his talent, especially the season that shot him into the public eye when he single handedly got the club to the Youth Cup final which earned him a place on the first team bench away at Southampton

Yup. What if he stayed during his prime.

A shell of a once great player will not answer that question.

What if we had Gascoigne or Ginola in their prime? That is more like the question that will be asked.

The bolded bit...

Yeah 31 isnt that old. Its also worth mentioning that he has been playing top flight football week in and week out for 15 odd years. That's with international tournaments thrown in.

He is not a Pirlo or anyone like that. His game was predominantly based on his work rate and power. That looks to have gone already, and although he was always a gifted player its not like he was a player who made an extra yard in his head or anything.

It "could" work. Could is a big word here though. For all the (quite frankly bizarre) warm and fuzzy feeling regarding the prodigal son returning what to you suspect will happen if he fails to catch fire straight out of the gate? All of a sudden he is no longer "once a blue always a blue Wayne Rooney" he turns into "badge kissing manc tosser Wayne Rooney."

It is a massive risk. I don't think a lot of us realize just how divisive it could be.
