Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

Wondering if Rooney is the reason Rom and Ross are stalling. Read that they were talking £150k for Rooney, though some quoting Rom around the £110k. Sure Rom's agent would have the inside track on what is going down between the 2 clubs.

Who's quoted £110k?

Arsenal signed 33 year old Cech

Man Utd signed 34 year old Zlatan

Chelsea signed 36 year old Didier Drogba

Liverpool signed 32 year old Rickie Lambert

Man City signed 36 year old Frank Lampard

dunno why you are all moaning about signing Rooney because of his age, he will bring experience and competition to the side, lets not forget next season will be competing in Europe so there will be a lot of rotation to keep players fresh.

Comparing a 31/32 year old Rooney to Ibrahimovic?

Remember Fowler and Owen? Or Ginola? Or Gascoigne?

Can't judge a player from who they were at their peak. Can't say because he's younger than an Ibrahimovic or Cristiano Ronaldo that he's as fit as them. They're freaks of nature who have looked after themselves for over a decade.

Rooney is the football version of Ricky Hatton.

Also, there was great excitement on here when we signed Samuel Eto'o.

No one minded that he was over 30.

I would love him back. Prestige, Press coverage and i'm an ol romantic at heart. He can also play football rather well.
I wonder how many complaining about his return would suddenly rage about our lack of ambition...IF... he signed for the bubble blowers dahn saaahf this summer. He would improve us. Seen it all, Done it all and with points and doubters to prove wrong....yup please moshi moshi !!

I'm in two minds.

On the one hand, I'm not 100% convinced he's up to the job - of course I could be wrong, he may still wow us for 18 months. And I'd hope beyond hope that, free or otherwise, he wasn't our flagship summer signing. I'd take him as a semi-squad player on a free. Also, I hope we do not sacrifice Lukaku for him. Rooney and Barkley behind Lukaku may actually be entertainingly effective.

There is the aspect of his leaving - all water under the bridge for me now, notwithstanding how gutted and almost offended I was at his manner after leaving. It could also be a shrewd commercial statement to the outside world - we obviously do not see it that way but others might do.

I'm undecided basically, 70/30 in favour of having him back.

...I doubt it. I think it was Duncan Ferguson who had a contract clause that he would be the highest paid player at the club so I expect that would be written into any Lukaku deal.
