They do, but they have had those supporters for years. You wont just get people to change allegiance because we sign a player. People generally support clubs not players.
A more important why do boost our revenue may be to get more of a presence in Liverpool itself. Of course we do a lot in the community etc but in terms of visibility we may as well not exist at times. Anyone from out of town visiting Liverpool wouldn't even realize Everton was a club in this city unless they were wandering down Liverpool One (and managed to walk past the minty Liverpool shop.) as there is nothing to show that we are here. No billboards etc, and no shirts in shops. Its madness.
I don't think it would be a huge story either as it would be seen for exactly what it is, a former quality player going back to his home town club because he can no longer cut it at the pinnacle of the game.
The advertising part is unfortunately true. I didn't we weren't plastered everywhere, until I realised that we weren't lol (yes that does make sense) compared to Liverpool who are more dominant than us in marketing etc...
Like I say, im hoping bringing players of Rooney's stature will increase our 'brand'. Certaintly in England to begin with.
