Transfer Rumour Wayne Rooney

"Zero evidence"

As of yesterday

I have said before, stats like that mean nothing to me. They are just numbers.

Just from a simple eye test. He looks finished (when he actually plays).

I do find it odd that we seem to be turning our nose up at players who are "not good enough for a team challenging the top 4" yet lots of us seem chuffed at the thought of signing a bloke who in 2017 is not good enough for a team challenging the top 4.

I'm not as down on his ability as others seem to be

He'd be fine as an option off the bench, the issue is he'd want to

A - play more than that

and

B - be paid more than a player in that role would normally be paid

I'm not doubting that he could still be a useful player for us, as I think he still has something to offer, it's other factors that put me off

I loved Rooney and was gutted to see him go, and him coming back to Everton would be nice to see, but the terms have to be right

I'd agree with this I think. But would almost want assurances that it wasn't a 'romantic' move when someone younger, equally or even better, could have been bought in to be fully on board.

It's absolutely a romantic move. Although a lot of us don't have that romance for him. It would be a hate shag at best for me.

I'll let that thought sink in for a while...

We should sign him, he's a winner and we need more if that mentality. If he loves our club, he should retire from man u, we should give him a coaching job, and register him as a player coach. Play him as and when we need him or he's in form.

So...We have a chance to get Rooney. Some don't want that.

So we don't get him and try to get someone who a) have quality b) will cost more c) persuade to join us d) might not work out e) could be bang average.

How about...We get Rooney AND buy someone else?

Nah, just get someone else.

Lets face it though, it's happening.

Like who?

Apparently spending £30mill on a Spanish player who looks like Soldado mark 2? Dodged a bullet with Perez at Arsenal.

Wouldn't be surprised with another difficult summer to attract top talent

You are basing this off nothing though. You may be right but there is currently zero evidence to back this up.

I'm basing it on what I have seen him do this season in his limited performances for United. He isn't the same player he was 10 years ago granted but he still has a lot to offer. A club like ours who are trying to bridge the gap to the top four, his experience and know how will be vital around the squad. Not only that but he maybe only has a season or two left but I bet it would also help us attract a better quality player in the transfer window. I really think it's a no brainer to have him here not only on the pitch but off it too.

Not my job. Why are we always so down on ourselves though? We have money, an attractive manager and we have a history of giving talent a chance to show what they can do over here.

Perez was 17M and has got 8 goals in 22 games. If he got a game every week then who knows how he may have done. Rooney has 5 in 35 by the way. Not that the stats tell a true story or anything.

I just find the potential signing of Rooney to be massively uninspired.

I don't agree with this. Nobody will come to us to play with a broken down Wayne Rooney. Why would they? Anyone who would we could probably attract anyway.

I don't see any attraction to having him off the pitch either but I have explained my thoughts on this loads already.

Track record of being snubbed by players playing champions league.

Perez can't get in a struggling Arsenal side apart from cup games.

If we're throwing stats, Del would still be here.
