You think, Maybe, But here the media makes a comment on whether Rooney is on the bench and not playing, whether he is really hurt. He scores a Jammy goal last week, and the headlines are the Captain is back. Lets face it, the media loves a Rise a fall and risen again story. I just Want Everton to be a Major part of the story. I could be wrong but I don't think so.
..mate, it's because he's at Man United.

None of us know for sure wether Rooney still has the legs in him.

A lot of you are going on about how he's going to increase our brand and our commercial revenues are going to shoot up.

The 'only' way our brand and commercial revenues are going to shoot up is if we win stuff.

If we sign Rooney, he does well, but we still finish 7th our commercial gains are going to be negligable. I don't know what planet some people are living on if they think we'll sign him and loads of fans abroad will start following us, etc.

If he does sign, which isn't a forgone conclusion, most fans of other teams will think we've signed a has been. You can paint it with as much blue tinted spectacles as you want but that is how most other fans will see it. It's only if he delivers on the pitch that it'll help us.

Wether he will or not, I dunno, he smokes and hasn't looked after himself though so I think it's a big gamble.

Hopefully I'm wrong but I think many are being naeive to think our global brand will improve through signing him. Sign a world class player in his prime and people take notice, otherwise they'll just be meh.

Too many people are getting carried away by sentiment and not through reality.

Nothing mitigates for me mate, its not even the fundamental fact that he left as it was inevitable, it was how he left and what it could have done to the club, its was inexcusable.

From a moral point of view, he went and lifted his skirt to another club, leaving us in a really dangerous position at the time that pragmatically could have seen us tumble down the leagues, I dont see why the club should open their arms to him now he has fallen on hard times.

Business will win in the end though.
He was an 18 year old kid....

Rooney smokes? Tobacco or Marijuana?

Not sure what HE DID to the club ... the club did it
He did nothing to the club he did what footballers do he was transferred fir big money .... the club could have kept him
The club sold him as soon as United came calling ...
As I recall he was still under contract
The disgrace was not that of an ambitious teenager it was the disgraceful management of the club
What he did to the club was the season after he left we qualified for C L without him
Wow, that is revisionist. As @Neiler very clearly stated, Rooney forced his way out of the club at a time when our league status was precarious. That is not the actions of someone who cares deeply about this club. I can accept ambition. Rooney won a hatful of honours after leaving us. What I can't accept is the idea that "Wayne is coming home" or that we should somehow be grateful that he is even considering us. If he was getting regular football at Manure he wouldn't be angling to "come home". He needs us more than we need him. We don't need him at all. Let him go to China.
